As far as I remember, shortly after Freddies death, the german television did show the budapest concert.

Yes, the audio was. But then, it's already confirmed that the audio for the entire concert exists. It's the video footage that people question.

Thanks for the mediafire link. Interesting tidbit. But does QP know about it?

Adam.

Well, considering the number of times that this issue has been dicussed, i think they should know by now.
This topic was discussed with lot´s of details, and ideas have been guiven about possible footage in archyves of television. This footage is a great example that something can be out there.

Even if the concert isn´t suitible for a DVD release, i think it would be great to have as a Bonus DVD.

Take care

hello all you rock ’n’ rollers it’s enourrrrrmous out here it’s frightning i tell you soooooooo beautiful. queen live at KNEBWORTH PARK MAGIC ’86
Just another thought to add to the mix.

If the video footage does NOT exist - perhaps it could be re-created (in total or in part) from all the various segments or fragments which DO exist?

For example, I know that various 'Doctor Who' stories have been reconstructed, and that versions of 'The Invasion' the 'Ice Warriors' and the original 'Autons' have all been remade using all sorts of varying techniques.

If so, I also like the idea that an official 'Budapest' DVD release could have an additional bonus Kebworth (or best of) disc.
Let's be honest, it could be no worse than the 'Live Aid' or 'Wembley' rehearsals - and if they want me to buy that concert yet again...

But alas, like the six out-of-town undertakers, I think QPL have lost the plot!
"Listen to them. Children of the night. What music they make."
thats a great thought john infact id buy into that myself, thing is as you say QPL dont have a clue as to what the die hard Queen fan wants. Looks like Budapest will be the next release im kinda cringing now as to what the 'bonus' material will be.

When I bought my Wembley DVD, I loved friday concert footage as a bonus. If Knebworth video will be a part of Budapest DVD, next DVD will be my best...
Get your head down baby - we're gonna ride tonight...

What does this have to do with the existence of Knebworth?
There is a TV report about Brian's honorary doctor degree which features a shot from Knebworth that was never shown anywhere else as far as we know.
I'm assuming Anglia News broadcast a report of the Knebworth concert at the time - so you've got to wonder how much footage they actually recorded and kept!
Why don t they release a concert from the jazz or news of the world tour or maybe the works tour?
F::: today it´s tomorrow
Nah, screw the Works tour. Unless they're going to do something about the drum sound, which is probably more trouble than it's worth anyway.
Has anyone thought of e-mailing Anglian TV and asking them where they obtained the footage of Knebworth that they used in the Brian May Doctorate article?
The more people that enquire the better the possibility of a reply...

I can confirm they have been contacted and advised that only the original '86 report and later (doctrate) report exist. No master reel. Sorry.
Thanks Guild93,
So when Anglia TV created a report in 86 of the Knebworth gig for their local news (Knebworth/Hertfordshire must be covered for that news area?), the short clips they used must have been from a roaving reporter and his/her team, rather than asking Queen for snipets from their recordings?
I guess this must be the case as the clip in the BM article showed views of the big screen that had totally different images.
So we can discard the BM doctorate article as being proof that Knebworth film exists.

Sadly it seems so. Does anyone actually have a copy of the original '86 report? It doesn't seem to be on youtube and while plenty of people acknowledge its existance, I'm yet to find anyone who has confirmed they have it. I assume it would have more live clips than the later doctrate report on Brian.
Its a shame that Anglia news say that hey have no master reel. Presumably they filmed pieces of the concert here amd there, such as lots of crowd shots and i would have thoughts a few odd songs maybe at the beginning.
Shame if this has been erased as it would help to piece some of the concert together from film that we know exists.
I guess 21 years ago the media werent so big on saving what they filmed on video as opposed to today when its recorded digitally, think of how much space reels and reels of master tapes would have taken up. Hey ho.
