Well, I'll just add that Freddie was in a man/woman relationship for some years with Mary Austin & then he decided/chose to end it to live a gay lifestyle - CHOICE!!![/QUOTE]
It was his choice to end the relationship, yes, but it was not his choice to suddenly be attracted to men. Judging by how much he loved Mary (and one can tell based on how warmly and fondly he spoke of her over the years), do you think he just woke up one day and thought to himself, "Gosh, I really do love Mary, but I think it's time I become gay?" Seriously.

I wanted to extend my heartfelt thanks to the original poster for this lovely gem:
"I'M SORRY ABOUT YOUR PSYCHOLOGICAL PROBLEMS. ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THEM AND NEED TO SEEK COUNSELING.
THIS TALE SOUNDS ALOT LIKE A PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILING ON CNN I SAW A COUPLE YEARS AGO. THERE WERE CONFESSIONS FROM A CONVICTED RAPIST WHO TOLD IN MINUTE DETAIL THE AGONIES HE FACED WHEN NIGHT FELL AND HE COULDN'T RESTRAIN HIMSELF FROM GOING OUT AND FINDING ANOTHER VICTIM TO RAPE. THERE WERE TEARS IN HIS EYES AS HE BEGGED FOR UNDERSTANDING AND MERCY.
THEN THERE WAS THE CLASSIC CHILD MOLESTER. HE COULDN'T CONTROL HIS APPETITE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN. IT WAS IN HIS BLOOD. HE KNEW HE NEEDED TO BE LOCKED UP, BUT HE WAS PLEADING FOR UNDERSTANDING AND MERCY AT THE SAME TIME."
Ah, thank you. It is a distinct pleasure to be equated with a serial rapist and a child molester due to my entirely healthy and psychologically sound sexual preferences.
Sir, you missed the point entirely. The focus was not meant to be my bisexuality. This was meant to be an extended presentation of my 'choice' to experience homosexual leanings; raised Catholic, guilty as hell to the point of self-flagellation, and obsessive to the extent of being non-functional. I DO believe that sexual preference derives in part from socialization, upbringing and environment. However, we are creatures of distinctly genetic material. Homosexual behaviour is observed throughout the animal kingdom; indeed, I find it telling that numerous simian species practice homosexual relations socially.
But your one telling line - something about 'the will of god' - has cemented my opinion. You are not here to host a creative discussion. You are here to fling yourself into the lion's den by stating a viewpoint you feel to be controversial. Then you can absorb the abuse and disagreement you know is coming, rendering you into some matyrish figure.
Congrats. You believe biology is a sin that is punishable socially. You believe love is so utterly narrow as to encompass only heterosexual unions. You believe in persecuting a widely-hated minority (I quite enjoyed your portrayal of the marchers in gay parades, by the by - obviously they are fascists evildoers who smite all who oppose them with ironfisted power and vulgarity). Finally, you seem to selectively draw your life's morals from Old Testament passages, which are some of the most terrifying and inhumane texts in religious history. Yes, murder your offspring if you see fit. Isolate women who are brazenly experiences menses. Seriously, I thought Jesus came to deliver a new realm of understanding and love...but perhaps I am mistaken. After all, I've only read the Bible.
I am a bisexual man with a female preference. By my own delineation I measure a 2 on the Kinsey Scale - a means of measurement I advise you to look up. I then suggest that you move on to Kinsey's other works, and then explore some of the varied texts concerning the fluidity of sexuality and, moreover, gender. I am what I am, whether crafted by some god or a natural product of this chaotic universe. Through genetic pre-disposition and social construction I am sexually attracted to men. I'm so terribly and completely sorry that this upsets you.

^Bravo!
I concur with you with the upmost respect, my fine gentleman! I find it amazing how throughout the centuries religion has not evolved into something more accepting. Homosexuality, as you so nicely put it, can be observed throughout the animal kingdom; and who are we to say we are no different from the animals? We share this world, and we share our sexual tendencies. It is to my personal understanding that all species who have sex are generally the same.
It is my personal belief that everyone is prone to homosexuality. In fact, I dare to say that the starter of this thread could one day be attracted to her own gender. Some of us, more than others, embrace our natural homosexual tendencies more than others.
It is a shame that people aren't so open minded. Religion prevents the understanding of many things. I can't stand those who take the Bible word for word and block out any source of logical thinking. 250 years ago the great philosophers believed that by our time religion wouldn't be around. Instead, we would have even more great thinkers and, believe it or not, acceptance of others for who they are. After all, it would be a boring world if everybody were the same.
I salute homosexuality!
Oh, and about Freddie Mercury. The man is a musician, a composer, and a great performer. Him being gay is nothing bad; especially nothing to be ashamed of! In fact, his homosexuality is what influenced him to write some of his best work. Gosh, it amazes me we have people like My Mini Mercury bashing the gays when being a fan of Queen. I always thought Queen fans were opened minded, higher-thinking, but not necessarily philosophical, individuals. I guess I was wrong.

Well, just for the record, I am a huge Queen fan & love them primarily for the awesome music they have made - pure geniuses! The fact that Freddie was gay does not put me off their music one little bit at all.
However, just because I have an opinion against the homosexual lifestyle does not mean that I hate or cannot tolerate gay people. It is quite simply the "act" that I despise, not the person. Therefore it also does not mean that I am a homophobe. And don't go calling me a bigot because you are in effect a bigot yourself for not tolerating the fact that I have a differing opinion to you!
While I agree with some of the things others have posted to this topic, I also think some of their opinions are a bit extreme & warped. However, like I said in my first post I believe that homosexuality is a lifestyle choice not genetics.
In my opinion your sexuality is a private thing that you choose to do privately. I am sick of seeing it flaunted all over the place publically and the way it has been pushed onto society through public parades, being written into laws & various legislation throughout the world - & all for a minority group. You're gay? So what. I don't need to see you flaunt it about in some parade - do you see me showing off my heterosexuality in some hetero parade & calling myself a hero, or have it legislated for? Keep it to yourself. I have to agree with My Mini Mercury that society has been brainwashed into accepting it & thinking that it is the norm when in fact it isin't. We might as well leagalise & give rights to necrophiliacs, pedaphiles, ku klux clan & the likes. But you know why we don't - because we all know that that type of behaviour is unatural & wrong! Now, again this is my opinion - homosexuality is unatural & wrong because man goes with woman, that's the way it was designed.
Now to those of you who have extreme & archaic religious beliefs, more so the Christians, put yourself in Jesus' shoes & ask how he would treat homosexual people. He would be accepting & loving of them as people. He wouldn't condemn them & take them out & stone them now would he. He would be understanding of them & their struggles & would offer them his grace & forgiveness if they would confess & turn from their lifestyle & start living the way he had intended them to live. Hey, nobody is perfect now are they. Maybe you shouldn't be so hard on the person - love the person but hate the "act" & lifestyle.
Like I said first off - I loved Freddie & his attributes & gifts that he had & his generosity & love towards others - just don't like the homosexuality.

NO, YOU MISSED THE POINT. THE POINT I AM TRYING TO MAKE IS THAT JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE A TENDENCY OR INCLINATION TO BE A CERTAIN WAY, AND YOU SUFFER PSYCHOLOGICALLY OVER IT, DOES NOT MAKE THE THING, WHETHER IT BE HOMOSEXUALITY OR THE TENDENCY TOWARD PEDOPHILIA.....DOESN'T MAKE IT RIGHT.

THIS REMINDS ME OF A "PERSONAL DEMON" I HAVE.
I HAVE BEEN OBSESSED WITH THE NUMBER 4 SINCE I WAS THREE, BECAUSE IT'S A PERFECTLY NICE AND EVEN NUMBER. I ALWAYS COUNT OUT 4 OF EVERYTHING.
IF I RAP MY FINGERS ON A TABLE, IT MUST BE 4 TIMES OR SEVERAL SETS (ALL EVEN NUMBERS) OF RAPS EACH SET CONSISTING OF 4 TAPS. AND IF A "RAP SET" HAPPENS TO END IN AN UNEVEN NUMBER BECAUSE I WAS TEMPORARILY DISTRACTED BY SOMEONE TALKING TO ME OR WHATEVER, I AM ACUTELY CONSCIOUS OF IT AND MUST THEN ADD AND EXTRA "RAP" FOLLOWED BY AT LEAST 4 MORE SETS OF RAPS. IF I SQUINT OR BLINK MY EYES, IT INVARIABLE MUST BE 4 EQUAL BLINKS OR SQUINTS, OR SEVERAL SETS OF 4.
THE NUMBER 3 JUST KIND OF HANGS THERE AND IF I TAKE JUST 3 COOKIES INSTEAD OF 4, THE 3rd COOKIE ALWAYS SEEMS SO LONELY AND I MUST REACH FOR ANOTHER ONE. OF COURSE IF THERE ARE ONLY 3 COOKIES LEFT IN THE JAR, AND I HAVE A NICE COLD GLASS OF MILK, I HURRY UP AND EAT THE 3rd ONE, AND WITH LESS RELISH THAN I WILL EAT THE OTHER TWO. THAT 3rd COOKIE JUST DOESN'T HAVE THE SAME APPEAL FOR ME AS IT WOULD IF IT HAD A "MATE" WITH IT. BUT WITH THE REMAINING TWO COOKIES I WILL INDULGE MYSELF AND EAT THEM SLOWLY WITH THE GLASS OF MILK.
HOWEVER, IF I HAVE 4 COOKIES ALTOGETHER....I EAT THEM ALL WITH EQUAL TIMING AND RELISH, AND I TRY TO END IT WITH EQUAL NUMBER OF BITES, PREFERABLY IN SETS OF 4.
I'VE NEVER FIGURED OUT HOW I COULD CONTROL THIS.
SOME OF MY FRIENDS HAVE SUGGESTED THERAPY OR HYPNOSIS.
IT HAS BECOME A SERIOUS PROBLEM IN THE PAST TWO YEARS BECAUSE AS A RESULT OF THIS "OBSESSION" I DEVELOPED A HABIT OF FLEXING THE MUSCLES IN MY SHOULDERS....FIRST THE LEFT ONE, THEN THE RIGHT...IN MANY SETS OF 4. I SAT IN A CLASS FOR A SOLID HOUR ONE DAY DOING THIS AND DEVELOPED A SERIOUS CASE OF BURSITIS AS AS RESULT.

Alright, that may have been a bit over the top, but then again that's just my personality. Listen, I certainly do not think of a gay man or woman as a 'hero' per se. I look at them as a brave few who have come out of the closet and accepted their sexuality. It's admirable.
In fact, I have a couple of friends who are homosexual. Do you think I just say "ah, good for you, mate?" No, I give them a hug and smile saying "I'm proud of you." Just because they're gay doesn't mean I can't touch one. So, if that's beyond tolerance then yeah, ok, you might say that. I tolerate homosexuality differently than others. Everybody has their own belief and what not. I have my own. I was raised to love and respect all people. I don't care who you are, as long as you don't abuse others.

I agree 100%. I think It's not normal and It's not right judging people because of their sexuality. I'm pretty sure that we all really are born bisexual and our choice depends on personal perfence as you said up there.
So typical when someone starts topic about homosexuals, bombs are flying in the air xD
We all can't and never will think the same. But everyone has right on his opinon. I'm glad I don't have any problem about the subject. I'm more occupied with other things. Being gay is for me normal as breathing.
It's more important how is someone as a person, color, where he comes from, sexual orientation..all doesn't matter. You can have human garbage in every single group. It's important that he's good as a person. And that's all what matters.
