Thanks Prophet...I would hope I know what I'm talking about since I've been a student of history for 7 years now and have taken 2 classes specifically on Reformation in Europe in general and one class on Tudor England specifically. Not that it means I know everything by the way....that is absolutely not the case and I would never present it that way. But I know more than the average amature Tudor "historian", but significantly less than the Professor of Tudor History, which I guess is the whole goal of an MA..a middle ground. LOL Actually I study it a lot on my own too, Elizabeth fascinates me.
I've only ever really heard of the first name you mentioned...Christopher Haigh. He is one of the foremost historians for the period actually, so that is a great choice. I'm sure the other ones are great as well, but the Tudor period (and Elizabeth specifically) are VERY heavily studied and so you can't hardly throw a coin in the historian community without hitting a Tudor or Elizabethan scholar. Especially in light of the new TV show on Showtime (Jonathan Rhys Meyers...DROOL!!!) and the new movies coming out.
Actually, those movies are the closest thing to historical accuracy I've come across out of Hollywood. The first Elizabeth is slightly more accurate than the second one that came out, but the second one is good too. Everything in the first movie actually happened to Elizabeth, and it is a very accurate portrayal of the time and circumstances. The only inaccuracies is that they make it look like all of that happened in like a year, when actually all of that stuff happened over the course of her first 15 years or so on the throne. Plus, the character portrayed by Geoffrey Rush (Sir Francis Walsingham) wasn't quite as Machiavellian as he is portrayed in the first movie. But the first movie specifically deals with the act of uniformity and the stuff she has to do to secure her throne, and religion plays a huge part on it. You may want to check out the movie just to get a handle on things.

I've seen the first one, and my friend saw the second one yesterday, she said the Tilbury part was amazing!
The absolute best one I've ever seen was the Helen Mirren mini-series also called Elizabeth (the one she won the emmy for last year). Most of it was quite accurate except for the fact she never met Mary QOS and one other thing which I can't remember, it may have been about Essex. It started a longish way in to her reign, but before all the things like Anjou, the catholic plots and the Armada.
