"Normally i can't dance to save my life. But as soon as I step in dog shit, I can moonwalk better than Michael Jackson."
Thanks, these will really help me next month when I'll be on holiday in Islamabad.

:B

EDIT: Ahh, anyone hear about the teenage girl who went off to the Middle East to meet this guy from Myspace? D: What a dumbfuck. Any way, it's on Dr. Phil tomorrow and I'm gonna watch it. xD
Back whenever
Alternatively, the Guantanamo Bay phrasebook:

"Cashal-Eh Fashal-Eh Tupheman Na Degat Man Goftam Cheeshayeh Mohemarir Behmeshvarehma."
"Listen to them. Children of the night. What music they make."
Fuck off stuart. Don't insult my country’s military.

Although most of the terrorists at G-Bay deserve worse than torture, Dubya assures the world that the USA does not torture.

Surely, Dubya's word is almost as reliable as the pseudo-science presented in Gore's "A Conveniently Stretched Truth". It is an undeniable truth that global warning wiped out New Orleans.

Both Mercury's and JSS;s posts are hilarious in a morbid sort of way.
Socialism: There's one for you, nineteen for me Should five per cent appear too small Be thankful I don't take it all
The single most compelling reason to not torture is simply that it does not work.

You can argue rights and due process and such till the end of the day, but regardless of your opinion on how expendable individual liberties are (in my personal opinion, not at all), it is this single fact that makes the whole debate useless.

Al Gore. Environmental Hysteria. Global Warming. Etc. Boring.
Creativity can always cover for a lack of knowledge.

Another predicatable stereotypical 'doodle' remark.

If you or your ilk can't take a bit of FUN against your own country or idealogies - then what makes you think you (or your kind) have the God-given right (or intelligence) to dish it out (or laugh) at the expense of others?

It is precisely this sort of attitude which fuels the flames of red-necked bigoted jingoism, and promotes the old ignorant Hollywood/McCarthey philosophy that one dead US cowboy is worth ten living Indians.

So either lighten up and grow up and see the world for what it REALLY is - or you can F*** both your sister and your mama before your next Klan meeting.
"Listen to them. Children of the night. What music they make."
Wow...I'm lucky I opened this thread when I was still at home. Had I opened this when I was in my office with my office mate in there she would have killed me! (She's studying Middle Eastern History)
It is funny in a morbid sort of way...but I can only appreciate the humor on a limited level. I still find it a gross representation of Middle Eastern culture and Islam.

No you've missed my point entirely stuart. You can criticize my country for legitimate reasons (there are many reasons to do so right now) but simply put, don't insult the military. They have done nothing wrong and you have compared our service men and women to terrorists and torturers. For that I think you owe an apology. Bash my president, politics, and other politicians all you want, but don't bring the military into the equation.

I will not accept this from another American citizen, and I certainly will not accept it from a foreigner.

I didn't find the post at the top very funny to begin with either.

No, of course.... nothing torturous about any of this.

You were on the right track for a moment there : 'You can criticize my country for legitimate reasons'.
I need to ask you, then :
How is criticising the military any less valid, as long as the reasoning is legitimate?

"I will not accept this from another American citizen, and I certainly will not accept it from a foreigner."

You can sit at your computer, block your eyes and ears and shout 'gnah gnah gnah', and refuse to accept things from people, but it doesn't really change anything.

This doesn't address the fact that you're probably the 'foreigner' here, considering that the forum isn't hosted in America (unless I'm mistaken).

"I didn't find the post at the top very funny to begin with either"

I agree - I found it to be old hat, personally.
WOW!! A topic I meant as purely a bit of fun turns into a rant on terrorism almost.....

Lighten up people please.... and dont take it personal either....

Why NOT insult the US military? Do you really believe in all that Star spangled GI Joe s***?

I personally found Mr Mercury's view a bit distasteful, so I thought I would turn the tables and use his own brand of humour against him. It was not meant as a rant, nor as a politcal philosophy - it was just meant to be a humourous, but thought provoking mirror where one could see the joke from the 'other side' as it were.

So while I accept that humour can at times be hurtful, spiteful even - the bottom line is, if you can NOT take a joke - do NOT dish it out.
Personally, I do like a joke, so perhaps I have just learned to take anti-UK or anti-Scottish jokes in my stride (and being honest while some are undoubtedly insultingly patronising - others can still be quite funny), but one man's meat and all that...

Certainly, no great insult was intended.

However, if you do wish to get serious:

First: Whether you agree or not, many (even in the US) DO view the US military as terrorists and torturers (One man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist and all that...) and given the US record on human rights at places like Guantanamo Bay, many feel that such a view is entirely justified.
It was Samuel Johnson who stated: "Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel", and while it is one thing to be patriotic - it is another to be blinkered to the point of Orwellian doublethink.

Second: Why should the US military be singled out to be ABOVE humourous attack? I do not view anything to be so sacred (religion, politics, celebrity) that it can not be poked fun at. Why should the might of the US military fear a humourous reply to an internet bulletin board?
If YOU really do feel so strongly about this issue, then you really do need to lighten up.

Finally: While the U.S. Constitution offers every American "freedom of speech", does this not extend to Johnny Foreigners willing to critise US policy also, or do you defend such liberties by bombing the f*** out of those who disagree with you?

(BTW: I am not anti-American in any way - but I am very anti-bigoted and ignorance - whatever the race or creed).
"Listen to them. Children of the night. What music they make."
No I don't believe all that GI Joe shit. I just don't believe you should "insult" (difference from criticize) and impugn the reputation of the 99 percent of the decent and great people that serve our country. I won't insult your military either.

Maybe I'm just grateful to a country that took in an immigrant family and allowed us to have such a great standard of living. I plan on returning that favour any day now when I will join the air force, so maybe I did take it a little bit personal. I hope you don't judge this country by blurbs in your local newspaper, I won't judge yours that way either.

Listen stuart, I think you're an intelligent guy, I appreciate you not being a dick about this (though I don't appreciate the fucking my sister/mother joke) and I think you aren't anti-american. I believe in freedom of speech and all that good stuff, I just hoped I wouldn’t be shot down for giving an unpopular opinion (which it seems to be unpopular these days to support the military)

Well, I have to go to work now, have a nice day.

BTW Please don't lump me in with the republicans, white-trash, rednecks, or the christians. The only thing we have in common is support for the military.

Great. Now what's John supposed to do?!?!?

I must have missed the Mother/Daugher joke, but I'm still trying to recover from "how to tell her the war's over."

Jose, lighten up, man. I am one of the last remaining Bush supporters, but we can still have intellegent dialogue here, eh?

Take this for thought. All these people slamming Bush and the Military and everything that's happened in the last 7 years. Then imagine John Kerry or Al Gore in the same position. And now imagine Hillary or Ladysmith Black Obama doing it? I mean really imagine Hillary as commander in chief! Now thats funny stuff!!!

...and the fact that you live in S.C.

We have more republicans, white-trash, rednecks, and christians per capita than any State in the union. ;-P
