I don't know if we'll ever know, for certain, however, I have heard Brian mention, in interviews, that Freddie was recording right up until his demise. Don't recall him mentioning exactly WHAT he was recording, however, and, I'm just too damned tired at the moment to go back and look. I may have the interviews on some of my dvds, or, perhaps, saw an excerpt on youtube from one I DON'T have. As I said, I don't recall, specifically, but, surely, I can't be the only person to have heard this!

Show Must Go On was not necessarily a one-take song.
Brian was talking specifically about the 'Face it with a grin' section, being a Freddie contribution even though the bulk of the lyrics were actually Brian's.
I think that part maaaay have been ad-libbed in one take? That was the impression I got from Brian May......
anyway I'd be cautious about saying it was a one-take song.

I can´t seem to find it amongst hundreds and hundreds of posts there but I DO KNOW I´ve seen it there. How he came in to the studio, weak and tired, took a glass of vodka, grabbed the mic, sung it while still stitting in his chair, got up and went home. Like it was no big deal. One of the finest preformances ever. Doesn´t that sound like Freddie :)

He was there too when they did My Fairy King, but he said it was on Queen II, he was there when they played Doin' All Right live dozens of times, yet he said he didn't remember it being done on stage; he was there when they did Master-Stroke on 'II' sessions at Trident, yet he said (to me) that it'd been part of Opera/Races sessions at Wessex; he was there when they played at the Rainbow in 1974 yet he put 1976 on his website (and corrected it one or two days later); he was there when John played bass on stage during Back Chat, yet he said (on his soapbox) that John played rhythm guitar on it (on stage); he was there when Fred bought a Steinway piano before the American NOTW tour and subsequently used it on stage for almost every concert until Knebworth, plus loads of recordings, yet he then said (Soapbox, September 2004) that Fred didn't use Steinway's (and I corrected him myself).

So, an eye witness isn't always the most reliable source. Talk about epistemological problems about testimony...

Allright, I might be wrong. But I think I´ll stick by my story ´cause it would be way cooler if he DID sing it in one take...

It would be very interessant to know which period from 1991 Freddie and queen used to work on Mother Love, winter tales and you don't fool me...I think it was mainly done between January 1991 and June 1991. It's not because Freddie went back at London at the begining from november that he really recorded some days before.
