Btw: YES, Nothing but Blue was indeed an Ibanez.
(The mirror-body prototype made for and given to him by Joe Satriani).
Run through all of his regular setup, it still sounds very much Brian May-ish. I always find that with the more decent Ibanez-types you can come actually pretty close to Brian's sound.
That sound is a lot more difficult to get with a Strat, though. This will realy sound different.

I don't see what your point is? surely it would be a bit of a pain to change guitars mid song unless you have too (CLTCL)

Ouch.... can't believe Brian said that. Ha-ha. As if he can't reproduce that tone in half an hour. :/ I've seen a guy on Youtube, no Digitech pedal involved at all, and he did it fine.
I have to say; reproducing a Tele sound for CLTCL would not be high on my list of priorities in a live environment. The song sounds completely different when they've done it live. It goes all stadium rock; so it really doesn't make any difference what he plays.
