I'll just cut and paste the above because that's exactly how I feel about Roger's solo(ish) material. "Fun in Space" is a great album and my favorite Roger work outside of Queen.
I love Fun In Space. Yes, it's quite a basic rockalbum, but I love the 'feel' of the album. I've posted this before - I wish they'd release a collectors edition of this album with the original album and a second disc of extras (demo's, outtakes etc).

I prefer Roger's solo stuff over Brian and Freddie's. I would have to say Shove It is my favorite. I'm not kidding. It's just....different, and most Queen fans just can't accept that. It's a little dated, but that is no excuse to call it crap. Fun In Space is probably my second favorite, Future Management is absolutely fucking brilliant.

I can't argue with that. You'd be surprised how Tom Sawyer doesn't really sound dated. In fact, I played in on a jukebox at a restaurant and one guy asked if it was Coheed & Cambria. (some people...lol)
Anyways, about Roger's solo albums, I think Strange Frontier is pretty good. Then again, I have a thing for 80's music :p

The later of the two, give of a feeling about a man stripped of something. I dont mean the talent, i mean somnething from his life. More deeper album.
Happiness is great album. Its not a upbeat album as such. As it does have a question to happines. But its Roger in a mature tone with his solo work. A good album with some great song.

If you want PROOF of that, take a look at Montserrat's work of art. Barcelona was an effort to gain some younger fans, but only that. She does not consider it a serious piece of work, as say her Marriage of Figaro release, and neither do her biographers.

It went Platinum in Switzerland and Silver in the UK. It did not achieve that Silver mark in ANY other country. No, that is not a big selling album. And think about it, at least HALF of the buyers were not in the "opera community".
