It sounds like a desperate "see, we can still ROCK!!!".
I like it better than the horrible new version of SINT. Nice guitar-riff, heard it a million times before though. Also nice drums. Shame they couldn't come up with a decent chorus. It actually sounds pretty (too) much like Roger in the late 80s/early 90s... quite boring.
All in all, I'd prefer it as an instrumental 1'30'' version without a chorus :)

Interesting to read some peoples thoughts are not from either here or QOL:

Note that a couple of people yet again notice that the riff sounds like The Metal by Tenacious D.

THE SONG SOUNDS GREAT!!!
fuck all the dickheads that say queen are not queen without freddie, the ones that dislike paul etc, etc.
Take the song as it stands and make your own minds up, i like this type of song, big riffs and powerful lyrics.
Brian and Roger are now stepping away from the shadow of Freddie and trying to create a new album, they are using the name queen , and why shouldn't they (my opinion only!!)
I know that i'll love the album and listen to it over and over.

i agree totally with you. This new Queen track sounds amazing with Paul on lead voice. SIMPLY - AMAZING! cant wait for the full album on september 1st.

I'm not offended in the least, and I hope you aren't offended either.
I don't think that even surprise is a good reaction, considering that everything Queen has ever done has been dividing opinions, and QPR is certainly no exception.[/QUOTE]
i quote you here, just i'd like (queen) music would gather people rather than divide opinions :) it's just music!! aaaand i can't believe you (or others) don't like their project/song at all
no offence anyway ;)
aaaand, i've listend the tenacious d song...uhmmm if we want to be picky brian just plays few notes that might remind the other one; i mean this "metal" song is totally a different thing. though the red special sounds heavy! And Chuck Norris sings pretty good too! ;)
ok brothers of metal...let's wait for the 1st september!!

You know...... this is exactly the type of attitude that exists within the Queen fan community that just drives me nuts.
Why should everybody have to love the song just because it's got Brian and Roger on it?? And to call everybody who doesn't like it a dickhead?? Come on.
I'm not one to get into the debate but Queen are NOT Queen without Freddie or John. The use of the name does not bother me, but lets not kid ourselves... this is not Queen. If they truly wanted to step away from the shadow of Queen as you say, then they would not be using the name that Freddie came up with over 35 years ago.
Bring on the album... here's hoping it's better than the first two tracks that we have heard.
I am excited by the prospect of a QPR version of Warboys, and I am hoping that there will be some great tracks on the album. I was always more of a fan of the non single tracks anyway.

Does this riff remind anyone else of 'Touch of Evil' by Judas Priest?
I personally loved the song. It's pretty catchy, but I'm not sure about chart success.
And, the riff does sound much more similar to the Priest song than it does to the Tenacious D song.

Your right. It really does sound like A Touch of Evil.

I seriously doubt you could write a hard rock riff that utilized an open E or A string and not have it sound like something that has been done in the last 35 years.
I mean, every freaking combination has been done.
Besides, all music is plagiarism.

Perhaps that is the problem. Queen constantly sounded like things that had not been done before. This doesn't.
Of course AOBTD is a ripoff....

It certainly didn't rock my boat into any direction whatsoever. And I'm not going to say the usual "I'm sure it will GROW on me" which basically just means that my ears get used to all sorts of annoying noises as long as I hear them often enough at a regular basis. Heck, I guess the constant noise of traffic also "grew on" me at some point.
Very poor song. Nothing special.

Well, but this is a much more obvious rip-off! My goodness... just listened to Judas Priest, and they were already "inspired" by The Wanton Song (Led Zep).
I want to be,
a cliché-brity...
