My guess is that the song is about those individuals who are only after the money; and I'm sure there are individuals in 'Canadian Idol' who do have a love for singing.

i only know the german issue of this show, which sucks like hell because it's pure commercialism. maybe that influenced my view.

because they lied under the idol just because they were singing queen songs and giving the band exposure to a new generation

It sounds weird and ridiculous that some people that have been popular 35-40 years are singing about wanting to be a celebrity, actually it is even a bit sad and embarrassing.
I though the same about Brian's "On my way up" song, I have never really liked it because that kind of lyrics from an old war horse are just ridiculous.
Anyway, the music of this track sucks too, especially the refrain.

its not about them wanting to be celebrities. Its about how the music industry is now with talentless people getting 15 minutes of fame.

thats what is sounded to me when they were on idol because every single contestent got the responst "wow that was amazing" "absolutely amazing, very good" from roger and brian when we all know that those people couldnt sing queen songs.
