He has a few unusual ideas. Maybe you could call them delusions, but I am not a psychiatrist, so I wouldn't be able to say.
But, how long have people here been trying to "reason" with him - or just make fun of him? If they try over and over, will he suddenly snap out of it and see "reality" as we do? Or is his situation probably more long term in nature?
Anyway, a little restraint maybe would be good. Please at least consider it. The only alternative is to endlessly discuss the same points with him (or make the same types of jokes about him). That is not good for anyone.
