Don't know who was watching the UK coverage for the game, but i found it extremely annoying. All the pundits were basically labeling Germany as 'lucky' and 'an average side.' How can a team be lucky if they score 3 goals in a match? It's madness! I think it was Alan Shearer who said Germany for the past few years have had a side with no special qualities. This is the team that got to the semi finals two years ago and have now reached the final. Why do tv pundits get paid so much for talking absolutle nonsense?! [/QUOTE]
I dont listen to the shite they talk. Infact during the half time break I turn them off. Who needs Alan "I used to be Scottish" Hansen to tell you whether a game is good or not or Andy whatsisname on ITV and his fancy touch screen demographic technology. Not me thats for sure.

I agree about the Germany.
Turks had too much luck in last few matches.

what have i told you all?
the oppossing team play the Germans off the pitch for 90 minutes and then the Germans win.i said it on page one here.its been that way since God was a boy lol ;-]
anyway, can someone get the Austrians to put an extra Euro [or whatever the currency is there] in the electric meter for tonights game so we dont get another power cut please?
i dont really want to listen to Chris Waddle's radio commentary thankyou,
and the best bit with that power cut and listening to the radio commentary was the 'voice over man' announcing that "we apologise for the loss of coverage here on BBC1,we will try and get the coverage back as soon as possible" just as the Germans made it 2-1 and the commentator is telling us how it was scored.so not only did we not SEE it,we didnt HEAR it either!

Well, Germany was a bit lucky... Lineker was right ;-)
But Turkey has been extremely lucky before. So I guess it was justice.

you wanna be grateful that you didnt get to hear Lineker's 'Silence of the Lahms' pun at the end of the programme.

anyway, tonights match,i want Russia to win.
not because they have the better team but because they have the funniest sounding player in the tournament.
Mr Arshavin is 'up there' with Bernt Hass of Switzerland and the old Bulgarian player of the 80's Ivor Bolokov when it comes to daft sounding names.
i wonder if he shaves anywhere else as well as his ars?
ps,Barb, how do we pronounce the German coach's name?
is it Low,Love or something else?
the BBC are having trouble with it?

I think you do not have that phone in English you need to pronounce Löw.

sorry about the stupid song but the first 20 seconds give you an idea. the "w" is pronounced like English "v"
Back to the "lucky Germans". I think many journalists say the German teams are "just lucky" because it implies that their own teams are "just unlucky". It needs a certain mentality and attitude to believe that you can win a match EVEN IF YOU PLAY BAD because it's the goals that count. I believe that German teams have this attitude more than many other teams and therefore they often succeed turning around a game although the team performance may be far from world class. If all fails, there can still be a world class individual effort that leads to the last minute goal.
The Turkish coach said in an interview last night that his team did not deserve to lose because they were so good and made the nation proud. The simple fact is that the Turks did not score the last minute goal, it was the Germans and therefore they "deserved" to win, sorry. Nobody here is under any illusion that the Germans played a good game but we take the liberty to be happy all the same. Next match is another story :)

Go Russia!!! Hahahahaha.
OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!
ESPAÑA CAMPEON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ESPAÑA CAMPEON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry Barb, but in the final I am going to support Spain. The stuff they are playing is so impressive and so... beautiful... but for the first time it's also deadly, they are taking their chances, they have this killer instinct and they are mentally strong- I don't think I have ever seen Spanish side that was mentally strong... Combine it with their technique and what you get is the essence of football. It's so beautiful to watch...
And just to make myself really clear- THAT'S why I was happy to see Italy go. Because what I see when Spain plays gives me enormous pleasure... It IS a pleasure to watch...

No need to be sorry, Tom :) I am very impressed by the Spanish team, too. What happened to Russia, they played excellent before and now there was nothing left from the great team spirit.
Sunday will be very exciting.

I wanted Russia to win, I didn't have time to watch the game, but people told me that Spain played beautifully and deserved to win, so that's great!!!
Now...as much as I admire the Spanish squad, I'm going to root for the German squad for sentimental reasons. :-)) German father, so...:p
I hope it's going to be a very exciting and beautiful final. May the best win!
