it was 'sods law' that i switched channels to see what else was on [as i was losing the will to live watching the game] and during that time Ibrahimavic whacked the ball into the top corner of the net :-[

goodbye Switzerland, thanks for ummmm nothing much really.
perhaps the footie team should take up water polo instead as they seemed to play better when there is a swimming pool on the pitch?

so one host already out,Austria to follow later today?

They can play polo against England right? They're on Holidays already also, with their lazy asses in a swimming pool. :P

And I agree... Maybe the next time they should keep the sprinkler systems switched on during the whole match. ;)
I got to try al little more, because I'm an asshole but I'm learning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfTLkUcQ7QY
Congratulations, Ms Rebel - great match against the German team. Now the next round is far away for our team while Croatia already qualified!

I want to really thank the Brits. Your sole representative at Euros did a great fucking job, really awesome... thanks...

This is England's first referee after the three yellow cards at last World Cup- FRANKLY, I don't know which one was worse... that was just robbery... Smolarek was being fouled all other the place the entire night- NOTHING
One pull of the shirt (ok, two...) and it's a penalty... brilliant... I think Mr Webb is at the moment the most hated person in Poland... Quite rightly so... That was the 12th game at Euros- how many penalties have ypou seen after a situation like this? How many situations like this you've seen in THIS game but with no penalty? Quite few... suddenly, when hosts are loosing and it's 92 minute of the game- suddenly this is an issue... Give me a break...

Poor Don Leo :-( He doesn't deserve this, neither does the Polish team.

Austria could have scored at least three times in the first half.. well they didn't, which says a lot.

Poland became stronger during the second half and had some nice shots on goal.

Penalty? No fucking way. Nice acting by that Austria guy though...very clever!
John: "It's the one thing I wish I could do - sing."
Yep, you're right... could have been easily three goals after first 20-25 minutes... But at the same time- that's what the goalkeepers are for- and Boruc is on of the best... After they substituted Jop (who was a joke...) they got back into the game and in the second half the Austrian team didn't exist. At all. Not until the only Brit at Euros suddenly decided to be a star of the tournament. Fucking brilliant.
Wouldn't have said a word if we lost 0:3 after three brilliant goals in the first half. Just as Germans were better in the first game. You accept a thing like that. But to lose to one guy- and he wasn't wearing red shirt that night... Now THAT fucking hurts... I know now what Spanish folk were feeling in Korea in 2002... To think that guy is a policeman... fucking hell...

i actually thought it was a penalty,
perhaps all the other refs werent brave enough to give a penalty for all the blatant pulling of the shirts in the other matches?
if they [the refs] all gave penalties for it the defenders would soon stop doing it and UEFA have told the refs to penalise anyone pulling on the shirts in the box.
well done Howard Webb for not 'bottling it'. i thought he had quite a good game.he kept his whistle in his pocket and let the game flow as well as it could of.
and before the Poles go too overboard about the penalty i shall point out that THEIR goal was clearly OFFSIDE and shouldnt of stood.so justice was done.plus they can only score via a Brazilian :-]

well done Croatia, its nice to know that Germany are as crap against you as the English were ;-]

ps Howard Webb is not the only 'englishman' involved in the tournament.if memory serves me right then Gattuso of Italy was born in Stratford-upon-avon and Colin Kazim-Richards of Turkey comes from Leytonstone ;-]

Well, shall we take a look at the other coners of that match and see how many penalties should have been given then? This happens with every free kick/corner in every match.

[/QUOTE] and thats whats annoying about the referees.the inconsistency of their decisions. it was the right one he gave but he should have done it earlier.he had also just warned the same Polish player [before the set piece] not to continue pulling the shirt or he would give a penalty but the Polish bloke carried on pulling the shirt anyway so the decision was correct to award the penalty. as i said,if the refs award penalties every time there is a pulling of the shirt in the area then the defending teams would soon stop doing it.im all for the penalties being awarded. i did warn you all on page 1 here that Howard Webb was a referee to watch for decisions ;-]

You CANNOT start enforcing a certain rule in the 12th game of the tournament, in the 92nd minute of the game. For 12 games it was alright- suddenly, hosts are losing, it's injury time and SUDDENLY this a call for penalty... call me cynical, but... I'm not buying it...

If Austria scored 3 goals in first 20 minutes I wouldn't have said a word- it would have been fair.

But I can bet you in next 12 games there will be no penalties for anything like that. Bullshit...

And Saganowski and Smolarek were kicked and hauled on all ocasions- there was NOTHING, no reaction from referee... And just as Lewandowski was pulling a shirt of an Austrian player, the other Austrian player was pulling the shirt of Jacek Bak... Only during that free kick he could have called 6 fouls, going both ways. Somehow, when the hosts were playing and it was 92 minute of the game- it goes Austria's way...

It's not about losing in general. It's about losing to a guy wearing blue not red- that hurts...
It wouldn't be good for the tournament if both hosts were eliminated after two games, would it?
* rolls eyes *
And I tell you one thing. It will be really difficult for him to even think about refereeing next Euros...

PS
And I don't know... when I found out that it's going to be Englishman refereeing this game (that was two days before)- I got warried... call me weird- I KNEW there will be some controversy...

perhaps the referees of the previous games didnt have the 'bottle' to give the penalty?
UEFA [william galliard] have announced today that Howard Webb was RIGHT to give that penalty and want more referees to be as bold as him.
i was watching his performance and he wasnt biased in his decisions at all.in fact he let play go on as much as he could.his linesman got the Polish goal wrong as that was 2 yards offside but not many Poles are mentioning this are they?
but i bet there will be more penalties and free kicks awarded by the Refs from now on [and rightly so].i shall watch todays games with a keen eye for it.
and im not being anti-polish with this,i have them in the sweepstake! and im watching this as a complete neutral :-]
be thankful Rob Styles wasnt the ref,he would of sent the Polish player off as well.
