Now to topic - Queen have produced MUCH more good songs which would deserve to get to charts, You and I is an average song and Cool Cat is one of their worst songs ever. Why not some of Brian's classics, like Keep Yourself Alive, '39, Tie Your Mother Down, ...
Or Freddie's Liar, Mustapha, ...
Roger's Modern Times Rock'n'Roll, Sheer Heart Attack, Cumming Soon ...
John's Spread Your Wings, Back Chat ...
Haha..how funny is the first sentence!!

Yes, to the topic...

I haven't mentioned Cool Cat, not once. Yes, ok, now run along and start your own thread for your favourite. Good luck, I will try to help you.
[QUOTENAME]YourValentine wrote: [/QUOTENAME]fairydandy, my reply was to Pieter and it was totally factual and not offensive at all. You do not get many replies to a thread when you just post a link without telling people what it's about. Plus your original subject line was something about 99p and had no Queen connection at all.

You should calm down, really.

I am calm, pulse rate currently 54, blood pressure 126/74. You?

No, your post was unnecessary and provocative. It's not up for negotiation YV.

The Brenski girl accused me of putting you down for your opposition to the idea, before you had actually opposed it in the thread. it's not worth explaining to her though, she doesn't have the brain capacity to fathom it out.
I have to go away for a few days tomorrow. Will you all miss me? ;-)
Absolutely. This board won't be any fun without you...
I do not want any google ads here.

It certainly won't be any fun with you here that's for sure.
Thanks for all of your hospitality and support. I will leave you now, never to return.

Goodbye. ;-)
[QUOTENAME]YourValentine wrote: [/QUOTENAME]fairydandy - sorry but I think you set the tone of this thread yourself, please do not blame QZ. Actually, I did not believe that you are serious about this but I begin to think that you are?

Please read the Rules for Chart Eligibility

http://www.theofficialcharts.com/docs/Official%20UK%20Charts%20Singles%20Rules%20October%202007.pdf

it says under

1.0 Genuine Sales

Actions which will be considered a breach of these rules

....
b) purchasing records or causing records to be purchased other than as a genuine consumer purchase

....

g) any other activity intended unfairly to influence chart positions.
-----

Even if such a campaign would lead to a possible chart entry, the sales might be removed from the data used to compile the charts. If 7digitalstore suddenly sold a high number of an old song, the data compiling software would compare these sales with the other shops providing the data and might exclude the data from the sales charts.

It would not only be a waste of money and energy, it would also throw a very bad light on the band and us fans.

Yes, it would be funny if "You and I" appeared in the charts all of a sudden but outside the fan boards not many would see the joke. It's a breach of the rules, after all.

I am also very sorry that this thread leads to more hostility between fans from QZ and QOL.
Absolutely spot on. While it would be mildly amusing* to have 'You and I' in the charts for a brief time, it's just not practical.

*years ago Iron Maiden's live double album charted and a local DJ was forced to play a song from it (I think it was "Flight of Icarus"). He admitted he picked that song becasue it was shortest and in fact he hated iron maiden. Fair enough, but it made me laugh to think he had to play the irons when no doubt he would've preferred to play some trendy new romantic crap instead.
"Queen is the only band in the world that can play so heavily that your nose bleeds, then offer a silk handkerchief to clean up with."

You're not welcome.

I second that.

If there is more than one person telling you the same thing, re: you being the only aggressive person here, then clearly WE are the problem?

No wonder QOL'ers are made fun of so much here. You guys are really idiotic.
[QUOTENAME]fairydandy wrote: [/QUOTENAME]Fanboy? What the hell is a fanboy? Are you actually for real, should I be taking you seriously?
Since when have I ever been taken seriously? :P

And Google is your friend. I'm not your dictionary.
Apart from the fact it's a colossally idiotic idea, I always wonder what motivates people to get things like this rolling? Say it does chart, what does that mean? That a grassroots campaign got a Queen song charted? Is that showing the power of the people or the internet's power? Is it any less of a song if it hasn't been a single? Will people think it's a worse song if the efforts to get it chart fail? What impact will this have on anyone's life? Some times I think some Queen fans own self worth is based on the band having more chart success than any band, and that the quality of the Queen music itself means little.

I often wonder what motivates people like you to write posts like the above. What is the point?
