He's homophobic, yeah. But most people in India are...soooo, if I were to be picky, I'd have no friends. :P Furthermore, even transexuals are discriminated against to the extent that they are forced to feel that it's their fault for something which was out of their control.

I remember trying to convert metalhead friends whose main reservation about Queen was the singer was gay back in high school. I do wish I had the playlists from those cassettes. I think it includes most of what we have here, plus the Star Fleet stuff for the shredding and the fact that they could wrap their heads around Eddie Van Halen.

Queen definitely HARD ROCK. Not pure metal, but if you have to label them then a heavy rock band who experimented, too much in the 80's in my opinion with some awful pop/dance leanings. The Rock/Metal thing is so blurred these days but the likes of Quo, Def Leppard, KISS, Bon Jovi, are not metal in the way SLAYER are. It's all very subjective. You cannot deny most of Quuen Fan's and certainly Freddie, Brain and Roger were fans of 'Heavy music'. Even AC/DC shun the metal tag and like to be called hard rock n roll!

Rob Halford of self proclaimed metal gods is as gay as a daffodil but one of the greats like Fred of ROCK! If something came from Freddie's death it was acceptance of lots of metal/rock fans of the likes of Freddie and Rob as what they are. GREAT ROCK Stars even if they are bent! Who cares, yes we may find their sexual activities personally disgusting but metal/rock fans like me had to admit does it fucking matter? We loved them for their music not what they did or do with their dicks!

well hard rock was in the lat 60's and 70's with led zep, the who,,,metal was the 80's..

Although Queen were around in the 80s, I sincerely doubt anything they did at that time could be defined as metal, certainly not compared to their 70s stuff.

Technically speaking the only Queen-songs that have 'metal' arrangements are Stone Cold Crazy and the Hitman. (And both only have parts that can be labelled 'metal', the main riffs are metal but as soon as Freddie comes in it's definately just hard rock). The rest is heavy rock, progressive rock, hard rock, plain rock, etc.

Okay, okay - you are right about a part of the main riff of Ogre. :-)
But only the part between the starting A/G chords up to the 'aaah's...
But that's just like 10 seconds :-)
The rest is just regular hard rock.

It depends on the terminology which changed a lot during the years.

In the seventies and early eighties bands like Black Sabbath and Deep Purple (and particularly Queen) WERE identified as heavy metal, according to today's terminology they belong to the hard rock category.

First off, Queen is NOT metal. They touched hard rock with their first albums but they are not even close to metal. Slayer is.
