If you say something on a forum either out of frustration, or to get a reaction, or with a view to saying something absurd that no one should take seriously, you will have to acknowledge that someone will take it seriously, and that they will form an impression of you.

but we have the word 'orphan' to describe a child without parents.
Is there a word for when a parent loses their child or children? I don't think I've heard it used before.

Well, I'm not sure about that.
I know, if a person loses their spouse, they become a widow (female) or widower (male).
And people are orphaned indeed if they lose their parents.
But for parents losing their child?
