Can anyone help me with this unlikely request? It would be GREATLY appreciated.
For many years I studied Shotokan karate in the UK under an exceptional instructor called CHRIS PALMER. He was a 4th Dan when I saw him last in 1997.
He emigrated and we lost touch. I think he went to California, USA, but others think he went to Canada. It was definitely U.S. or Canada - a vast area, I know!
I have exhausted EVERY avenue I can think of - especially the internet, but cannot find any trace of him - which is very strange.
I was wondering if it would be possible for any Queen fans (who don't hate me too much) to let me know if you know of ANY Shotokan club in ANY area of the U.S. or Canada that I could write to or email. I feel certain he will be part of one of them, somewhere.
I've tried a few emails from here, but no success as yet. I'm sure it'd be easier for someone actually living in those countries.
ANY leads or clues at all would be great.
You can take the piss if you like - wouldn't that be totally unpredictable!!! - or you can take this seriously. It is certainly intended that way. I genuinely would love to find Chris again and see where he's teaching... or if he is.

By the way, does anyone know where I can get some tube socks that have two yellow stripes and a thick green stripe in between? The Green stripe has to be in the middle. I used to have a pair of socks like this in Junior high and they were my favorite socks. I have managed to only keep one all these years and would like a new pair.

I had a Shotokan instructor for a bit more than a year and I didn't really like it. I was happier with the first style I studied (I forgot the name now! But I took lessons for some 5 years, then I moved to Shotokan), and after I took lessons with a Shotokan instructor, I took lessons with a Shuri-ryu instructor for nearly a year too and enjoyed the style more than Shotokan (and I loved the mix between karate and kobudo, it was fun when the instructor brought those weapons to the class for us to learn how to use them and do some exercises) - I just didn't like the instructor.
Sorry for the random rambling, this thread brought back some memories. :P If my first instructor still lived in my city, I'd gladly take lessons again. But now I guess I can only find Shotokan instructors, plus the Shuri-ryu one I didn't like. Ah well.
