I cant help wondering who they think will buy this at all?
My main interest in the thing was the b-sides, remixes and so forth which gathered together and in decent sound quality presented at least some notion of rarity. I probably would have bought a £40-60 box set containing all those.
Anyone who wants the artwork already has it, so all that remains is the tracks themselves, and anyone who wants them already has the albums/greatest hits/rocks - even in the general non-superfan public.
With the b-sides being spread out across 4 releases (and this first one only containing one!!!) only people to whom money doesnt really matter will feel they must buy all to get those tracks.
So what is there that more than about 10 people will actually want enough to buy this product?
The only vague pull it has for me now is the big fan factor: i.e. its a new Queen release I dont have - but my shitometer is fighting that fairly well as it stands.

This is so blatantly against what the original intention was. The ultimate decision actually lies with EMI as to what they want to pay money out for, and it's obvious they don't want a Freddie Solo style boxset anymore, they want this load of old crap.
I bet Greg is as pissed off as we are, as will be Richard Grey who has designed the planned book (like so many designs he's been paid to do for items that have never materialised).
To be fair, until QPL OFFICIALLY release the tracklist, we should take the tracklist shown on "What Records" & "EIL" site as being guess work.

EMI release what QP delivers to them. EMI have little control over what they can release - otherwise the anthologies would have been out years ago I'd imagine. I'm sure EMI would love to release previously unreleased Queen material - QP do not. This is a good lesson for record companies though - never let the artist own the copyright to sound recordings! And if EMI had owned all the recordings and had them in their own vaults, far less masters would have gone missing.

Singles boxes can be fun - I've bought a few by bands that I don't have many records of - but you need to chnage the disc every two songs!

Yeah, but Benn - The Who at least had the decency to release Maximum RnB more than a few years ago, which for me, is the standard which I expect retro-boxsets to be at.
This is most disappointing. I hope it serves the less Queen-aware out there, but I for one, will not be buying it.
As far "anthology type" boxes - I have now been waiting since 1994, when they were first mooted. It's 29 years until I retire - I am really counting that length of time before I see them.
But, for *US* - and my experence with The Who's set - it's not something you would bother playing. The Who's set was "unique" in that it was a vehicle to promote two brand new recordings in Real Good Looking Boy and Old Red wine, so at least one disc was played regularly, but who in their right mind is going to want to spend the time changing discs every 6 minutes 13 times?

I'm not actually blaming Greg on this - I'm blaming QP, who have paid Greg for years to unearth rarities they'd forgotten about but then have chosen to re-re-re-release the same singles over and over again.
