I think its too soon to judge ask me in a year or two but on a few initial listens it can sit proudly in the Queen catalogue
[QUOTENAME]Tero wrote: [/QUOTENAME]I think it ranks somewhere between Heathen Chemistry by Oasis, and Fun In Space by Roger Taylor.
Not much of a Queen connection in there (THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A NEW BAND, RIGHT?) so there's no point in raking it in comparison to Queen albums, is there?
Oh, I love Heathen Chemistry by the way! hehe :)
Too bad Oasis' later albums did not succeed as much as their first 3. Heathen Chemistry is much better than Be Here Now (overproduced and overlong crap).
Back to Queen, well, I think you're right. Still, it is interesting to see that some people rank MIH so low, being their best selling album and -until a few years ago- considered near to a masterpiece of some sort.

To be honest I had troubles to classify their albums because there are some that I really enjoy, even that I know they do not represent big artistic value (like Hot Space), and the others are obviously good but just don't suit my tastes (Queen II for example). I only had no doubts about the first two and the last two.
The Cosmos Rocks is in my opinion never near Queen's best efforts but better than some of their worst efforts.

I don't rank albums but compared to all my Queen albums I like TCR only better than Flash Gordon.
It's not a bad album but it just does not touch me the way a Queen album touches me. It's not because of Paul Rodgers, he has a great voice, it's just not so exciting, daring and unique as any Queen album. It's one out of maybe 200 other averagely nice albums I rarely listen to.

Exactomundo.
I cant even recall one decent guitar solo.
I have spent the week listening to Death Magnetic and TCR has remained in my glovebox!

I rank it below every other Queen album - I think this is far less musically original or interesting than any album Queen did. I don't think it sounds 'bad' as such; it's just instantly forgettable.
My review from another topic:
"I have to say, I think timantt1's review is absolutely spot on - there is nothing original or particularly interesting on this album.
To me, the majority of it, to me, sounds like a Paul Rogers middle of the road blues rock album kinda thing to me. I wasn't expecting a Queen album, since this is not Queen, but there is nothing particularly interesting about this at all.
When listening to each song, I recognized the 'type' of song fairly on in each track, no surprises, the majority of it is just rock by numbers. Like the topic starter says, alot of it reminds me of other songs by other people. I enjoyed 'Voodoo', but like the starter said, it just sounds like something Clapton would do.
"Say It's Not True" is probably the highlight of the album for me, and I realize that this is the most typically Queen sounding track on the album, but do not confuse my general dislike of the album to this album to a dislike of Paul Rogers. Paul Rogers has a phenomenal voice, and is a fantastic performer; the Q + PR gig I saw a few years back was amazing and I enjoyed both Queen and Paul's material.
However, I just don't think the writing in this album is up to much. Simple as that. "

I don't really rank albums because each one means something different and special to me. A Night At The Opera is the album I view as Queen's best and the one I would play to someone who had never heard Queen before, if such a person exsisted.
TCR is on continual playback at the moment and I really like it but the proof will be in 12 or 18 months time will I still be playing it? I Hope so

I don't post here much but I am a huge Queen fan and I am trying not to compare this album to any other Queen ones, and am not comparing Rodgers to Freddie as he would lose every time.
I must say that after listening to the album once, there is only one song which I want to listen to again and that is Say its not true. Everything else is just not that interessting. I mean Roger and Brian are known for great songs so is this no longer true or is Paul influencing them too much? Basicaly without the Queen name on the album I don't think many people would buy it! As I said though, I have only listened to it once, I hope when I listen to it more it will be like a Muse album, you hate most songs then you suddenly out of nowhere love them and appreciate there genius. But right now I can honestly say that the Hannah Montana 2 album has more enjoyable to listen to!!!

That's probably where I'd put it too. The order of the remaining albums would be different for me - but it's just so much better than the crap on all of Queen's post-Game/pre Innuendo albums
