In Hamburg there were lots of signs "no cameras, no video, no recording etc." and everybody was searched very thoroughly, it held up the entrance very much. It was almost like at the airport, they even searched my ankles if I had something in my shoes! The ladies were searched by women. Some people still got their digital cameras in, because they didn't dare to search ladies' handbags (at least not in my queue)! How silly!
After all I'm not surprised, that no Hamburg recording has turned up yet. It's a shame, because it was a great show.

... well, it would only be normal for a lady, especially if she's been travelling a long way to the venue, to carry a small-ish pouch in her bag, containing an assortment of items related to private hygiene: I somewhat doubt that even the strictest security at the gates would be too willing to fumble in there, should a tiny camera be hiding under the stuff...

Maybe the "airport-like" check was mostly to prevent people from carrying weapons into the venue...?

At EVERY venue (and I really mean every) it is possible to get in with a camcorder, photo camera and/or minidisc or WAV recorder. Sometimes it's very easy, sometimes it's a bit difficult but success is almost guaranteed.

one thing is getting the equipment inside the venue - to record it (with a camcorder!) is a completely different stuff and its by far more complicated. Security guys are always looking for camcorders during the show, and nowadays even members of the audience call the security  to report camcorders...( yes some of you Hannover people - idiots! )

It really depends on which country - Prague and Budapest are both really tough venues, Prague with xray machines and Budapest with idiot security who does not even allow people taking pictures from sitting places. Near impossible to video anything...

The Hannover incident was funny :-) Everybody was like "be warned, people in north Germany are weird, they may call the security if they see you recording the show" and we were laughing... and then it happened :-) Prague and Budapest are really tough - but still possible. Btw. in Budapest 2005 they didn't allow even taking photos but I thought that was because of the DoRo team there? Or is the security really so strict that you can't even take a photo with a small amateur digital camera?

Does anybody know the conditions in Wiener Stadthalle ? Not that I'd plan to record something, I'm just asking [/img]

^ Indeed getting the gear inside is the least of a filmer's problems.
Holding on to it during (and after!) the show, that's the trick!

xray machines????

no idea about Vienna security but in 2005 the concert was filmed by at least two teams .
I do not want any google ads here.

I have been to many concerts in the last 30 years, and I don't remember anything similar to the strict controls at the Color Line Arena in Hamburg. It's the first time I have been there, so maybe it depends on the venue. But I have the impression, it has to do with some vague recent terrorist activities warnings in Germany.
Till earlier this year the door staff only searched for bottles or obviously professional gear. It wouldn't have been hard at all to carry a small camcorder or edirol into the venues. But if you had a small bottle of water – oh my god!
If you manage to press the record button when it's in, you get a nice hollow and creamy sound on your recording. :-)
