My views on the election: I can't WAIT until this damn thing is over. You can't go anywhere or do anything without hearing about the election. And don't even bother trying to turn on the TV; you can't escape it. I don't ever remember any election being this hyped up. And since I voted by abstentee ballot two weeks ago, I wish I could escape all the damn ads trying to sway my opinion one way or the other.
I fully intend on not being anywhere near a TV all of Tuesday.

at least its YOUR bloody election.we've had the news channels [esp Sky News] going on about the damn thing since God was a boy here.they keep trying to convince me that its important to the UK somehow,as if we get a sodding vote.its being hyped more than a Wrestlemania!
i wish i was as optimistic about it being the end come wednesday but alas i fear it will then be all about the inaugeration.
my only question is will the USA media make as much fuss over the next UK election as ours are making over yours?

I know...if you think it's bad there, you should see it over here!! I mean, it's literally 24 hours of news of NOTHING but crap tied to the election. I think California could have a massive earthquake and break off into the Pacific and the media wouldn't even bother to mention it right now. I'm not sure why your news stuff is hyping it the way they are...other than the fact that everyone in the world is sick of the current President.
As far as your next election...I doubt the US will even mention it. Most people here don't even know who your PM is right now, and probably don't give a crap anyway.

Chances are that if you live in an urban area from a blue state, it's very likely that you will find obnoxious Obama supporters. Some Blacks will boast about having the "first black president" forgetting that more whites than black will be voting for Obama. They will be disappointed when they find that Obama is not Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton.
If you live in a rather rural conservative state, then you'll hear obnoxious McCain supporters calling Obama a "terrorist" and an "anti-American", just to mention a few. Even Joe The Plumber, who became the poster boy of McCain's campaign to describe an average American and how small businesses will be affected by Obama's policies, came across as an extremist when he mentioned how Obama will "bring death to Israel".
