for me its the best song on the new album as soon as i heard this track i loved it  the rest of the album  only grew on me after a few plays.

Although I think 'We Believe', 'Small' and 'Cosmos Rockin' are better songs I think the decision to release 'Call Me' could be a wise one by the record company.
I personally think 'We Believe' is fantastic but a bit long for Radio play and I don't like the songs being butchered. I've always thought 'Small' would work as a 'Christmas single' but 'Call Me' will probably get more airtime and be a bigger hit with the casual listener.
I hope they at least shoot a video for it this time and put a bit more effort into the release, ie better b-sides [img=/images/smiley/msn/regular_smile.gif][/img]

How can you even imagine that Call Me will have any success on the charts???

It's an old fashioned filler tune on the album, wants to sound authentic but is just old fashioned and dull...

Lyrics are the weakest of anything i have heard the last 5 yrs...


I believe in Time To Shine as a possible single release but that is all on the album...it is just not a very commercial or strong album...

Lester, you've got this almost right in that "It's Not Enough" *was* released to DJs for airplay, but as a promotional single only (along with "Tea And Theatre") in an alternate (better!) mix to the album version, but it never made it out as a single to the market.

Why Queen + Paul Rodgers feel that they can have an impact on the UK chart these days is comepletely beyond me.  Perhaps it's out of some kind of strange desire to prove the UK market wrong, but they have absolutely NO chance of dislodging the monopoly that's been created by various X-Factor winners, runners-up or blatant losers.

And, regarding a comment about "promotion" in an earlier post.  They have no need to promote anything - tickets for the shows have sold on reputation alone.  The album has also sold on reputation and a limited sense of curiosity amongst the general music buyer.  No one expected the album to be "gound-breaking" or earth shattering in terms of it's content and the reluctance to include anything other than the *easiest to play* material from the album shows just how much the band themselves are struggling with it themselves.  Perhaps it's nothing more than Spike, Danny and Jamie not being able to handle the material as a backing band.

I'm more inclined to believe that they're doing *EXACTLY* what Pete Townshend is doing these days and just settling for playing the material that they absolutely know inside out and doing the best job they can of it.  Roger Daltrey has been pushing very hard for more obscure material to be included in their sets.  Townshend's counter is that they can be the best live act in the world playing the stuff that they know best (Substitute, I Can't Explain, Baba O'Riley, Behind Blue Eyes etc) or they can be an average act playing rarities (Slip Kid, In A Hand Or A Face, Tattoo, A Quick One While He's Away etc) and he's not prepared to be average at this stage of his career.  I've been seeing Who shows since 1989 and had missed none until 2006 when the set list stuck itself in the mud and the risk taking and danger element disappeared.

To me, this is the dilemma Queen + Paul Rodgers are in at the moment and they're taking the option (the easiest in my book, but also the most sensible in commercial terms) that pleases the majority.  For me though, it means that I'm not going to pay to see them - as with The Two (Who).  Sadly, Queen + Paul Rodgers aren't as big as The Rolling Stones who were able to play Stadia, Arenas and Clubs with widely differing material at each type of venue; Queen + Paul Rodgers could do this if they were prepared to take the gamble and put the work in to make it happen (....as could The Two of course), but realistically, they're nothing more than a revival band playing Queen and Free hits.
