Queen and Pink Floyd are my two equal favorite bands, because they're completely different but both the best at what they do. Queen is more melody-driven and technically brilliant, while Pink Floyd is pure emotion/multimedia. It's hard to compare them since it's apples/oranges.
ANATO/DSOTM are both supposed to be two completely different things. I do think the DSOTM album cover may be the best album cover ever though, it perfectly defines what's on the record and becomes part of the package.
You could make the argument however, that each album is the best each band put out, therefore they'd be about equal. (Personally I don't believe those are each bands' best albums, but many do.) DSOTM has definitely had more of a cultural impact though, so that may give it a huge leg up.
One interesting similarity both bands do have is how they were pushing lights and visuals in live shows....

My brother went to see Roger Waters live in Mumbai barely 2-3 years ago and he said it was fantastic.
That said, I'll concede that Pink Floyd can be extremely boring sometimes and you have to be stoned to enjoy some of their music.

I don't think it's boring really. But for some people, might be an acquired taste.
However that said, not much music will put me to sleep as easily when I'm *really* tired, so I can kind of see what people mean when they say PF's music puts them to sleep :-P

A Saucerful Of A Secrets is magic. The song I mean. Especially the Celestial Voices bit is incredible. Though being quite simple, it's has this addictive touch to it. I emulate that bit regularly on my keyboard.

T'was the most worthwhile purchase I've made in months.
My only gripe is the 'specialness' of the special edition. I'd like the nicer picture, the better sound, and the added interviews, but I'd like it without all of the computer generated planet imagery.
Still a fantastic DVD though, and they were good enough to include the original edit.
