Probably. But I doubt Brian and Freddie were close. John, even if he wasn't a close friend of Freddie's, at least respected, admired or idolized him a lot.

I like to take the piss out of Brian as much as the next guy, but this thread sucks.  Accusing him of fake tears.... Jesus, have you seen how worked up he gets on his Soapbox?
Some fucking people....

Some of the shit he gets worked up over- he has to be faking it.

One man's trash being another person's treasure, it's easy to see why an apathetic soul such as yourself would look at someone elses blog and say 'bah, why is he getting so emotionally invested in this crap!'.

Regardless, it borders on plain fuckin' retarded for some of the people in this thread to go 'oh, yeah, he's faking those tears'.  As if those twats would even know...

Brian has hidden a few onions in his accoustic guitar, that explains it.

Faking the tears after Love of my life?. I've seen him live I was standing in front of the catwalk very close to Brian and I didn't notice a tear in his eyes...he really didn't cry sometimes he just wipes the sweat and some people think that he cries...:) And he often jokes after love of my life. Yes there were moments he was moved almost to tears during QPR tours but it was natural. For example in the dvd of return of the champins after Love of my life...he was moved it is clear and I'm sure he didn't fake...Freddie's mum was in the audience...they were playing again after almost 19 years...so many memories and emotions. And if he look around and see some people crying during love of my life...it is moving for sure I would be moved if I were him. And as for the topic I don't really see the point of such topics...I mean we have no idea what are their real relationship we can only suppose...anyway they've spend together a lot of time so I'm sure there is some kind of good relationship between them. But how good friends they are...really nobody can tell apart from them:) and I think it's their private thing...there is a video on youtube where the guy asks Brian and Roger about their relationship now ( it's from recent years some time before last tour) and their reaction and answer is quite funny:) it's in the end of this video and I suppose most of you have seen it before but for those who want and haven't seen it yet here's a link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ayiT3ji-jA&feature=related

Faking tears? Fuck there's some idiots on here.

When they started out, of course they we're a lot closer. I'm sure Bri, Rog, and Fred all flatted together at one stage (along with about 20 others). Rog and Fred had that stall together. They went through all the trials and tribulations of becoming a succesful band that inevitably would have made them a close knit unit. Just as inevitable would have been the gradual seperation from the group to form individual lives with family and friends. Something very important and probably neccessary for Queen to maintain the long band life they had.

Just look at Brian and Roger faces at the beggining of that interview one week after Freddie´s passing... and you´ll get the answer.

John of course wasn´t there :P
They were friends, no doubt. But they didn`t spend their leisure together.
And why wasn`t John there? I don`t think it was a good idean on his part. No good words to say about Freddie?

why wasn´t John there?sorry to answer you with another question but...why would have he been there?it was a hard time, they were not promoting an album,a friend had just passed away, probably he thought he needn´t have to expose himself to everyone in such a hard moment and was an understandable decision.

Maybe you are right! But I think it is friends who just have to say good words about their friend who dies, especially when there were so many rumours and gossip.
I don`t see anything bad in that. But still you maybe right...

Very interesting interview, thanks for posting :).
Actually, I haven't yet reached the part related to this discussion, but I have to say I like what Brian says about the concert they did in Sun City (South Africa).  I cannot actually understand everything they say, but I think Roger says he thinks they were naive, and Brian says he actually thinks they did some good by going, and that Nelson Mandela said he didn't have a problem with them having done that concert, and so that if other people do, well it's their problem.  I had once read a quote by Brian about it, but it was in some question and answer thing, and the person who posted it didn't give any reference, so I didn't know if it was true, but it actually sounded quite similar to what he said in this interview, so I guess it's true
