SOMEONE SHOULD BUY QUEEN ARCHIVES!!!!

To be honest, it's not such a stupid idea.  TV stations around the world have tons of video and audio material of live shows that were filmed, if only in snippets, for news broadcasts, documentaries, gigs that were shown on tv etc...

Some of the gigs will undoubtedly already be copyright of QP, but some of the overseas TV companies WILL sell footage that is of no use to them and that they own.  Even if the content of the tapes is copyright to QP, the physical tape that it is recorded on is owned by the TV company, and so they can sell it if they wish.

If for example I bought such a tape, as the owner I could then sell it to QP, or anyone else I see fit.  However if the material on the tape is already copyright of QP, I couldn't use it, but QP couldn't insist that I hand it over either as I own the tape.

Even if it were sold to QP, this doesn't in any way of course mean that QP will release it! 

At least if such an exercise were undertaken, some of the material would be passed around collectors and hubs etc.. to those who want to see it

But there's one thing I don't understand about those TV channels :
why would they keep all of those shows in archives and never broadcast them ?

You can give Greg all the info he needs and he can arrange to get hold of it... but WE'RE never going to see it. So I wouldn't get too bothered about anything - Queen Productions have no interest in releasing anything their fans would be really interested in because they're so greedy they'll only release things that very casual fans will pick up in Asda on a whim.
