Ah, I see we've descended into the portion of the conversation wherein the girl is mocked for her appearance. It's like the Five Stages of Grief (anger, acceptance etc), except sexist.
Look up the word 'sexist' in the dictionary. Shallow, perhaps. Sexist, no. Deserved? Definitely.
It's a simple feat to judge from a single photograph. I'm sure, of course, that every single male on this board is either married to or dating a Swedish supermodel, a paragon of feminine perfection. I'm also certain that every single male on this board (especially those spewing insults at a fifteen-year-old girl who just gave birth - classy!) are themselves prize catches, with rippling biceps and Adonis-like complexions.
Boohoo fucking hoo. She is so morally perfect and undeserving of any criticism whatsoever, and I'm sure she does not judge by appearances either. You should apply her for sainthood. Also, there's quite a gradient between "paragon of feminine perfection" and "barely recognizable as humanoid".
A human being isn't a snapshot. If we fail to move beyond the OMG HE'S SO YOUNG LOOKING WTF SHE'S FUGLY stage, we can't address the actual issues this case brings to light.
Such as a perverted treatment of sexuality by a significant portion of British youths, the enormous superficiality of Western (and other) society and your moral perfection?
I'll acknowledge that she looks terrible in the picture, but I have to ask, so fucking what?
Sure.

The last line of Lozlan's monologue is laughable. Both hypocrisy and contradiction.
Since when did QZ transform into a mature and political correct place?

Must've been when TM came to enlighten us.

I am not surprised that tabloid reasoning is all you can handle, Thomas Quinn. Using your own head is certainly asked too much. Let's enjoy the freak show presented to us by the media without even thinking if the people involved are maybe too young and also too stupid to realise what they do to their lives by presenting themselves to newspapers and TV. Concern about the exploitation of juveniles who have no clue about what they are doing to themselves must be ridiculous and moralising. Feeling digust and maybe even compassion with these misguided kids must be so 20th century in the age of jungle camps.
Aren't we oh so superior to these people who have underaged sex and are dumb enough to make themselves the headline for a week? What does it have to do with morality? You, Sir, are just stupid enough to fall into the Rupert Murdoch trap. Octuplets, underaged mothers, alligators in the sewage system - let's get wound up about all these so important issues - maybe we manage to outsleep the real issues.

You're overestimating me; I don't even care what the tabloids have to say about this.

That pipsqueak looks like what the Brits call a 'chav'. Anyway, I don't find it surprising. They both seem to be misfits/outcasts. What normal kid is 4 feet tall at 13 years of age? The girl isn't something I'd tap either. But I bet TM would. He would mistake her for his brother after taking some psilocybin mushrooms and the other shit he uses.
"I thought it would be good to have a baby."(from the article)
Now, there are two ways to look at it. I personally favour a realistic approach(a la ThomasQuinn) as opposed to an idealistic one(like LozIan). But like YourValentine said, this isn't a very worrisome issue. Sure the "parents" are irresponsible. And irresponsible mothers ostensibly beget irresponsible mothers, right?. The same thing was said of the "single mothers" of the 60's and 70's. What an epidemic they were, weren't they? Guess what? Society still survived.

I just find this whole affair sordid and all parties involved are obviously at fault. I prefer dealing with that by making it into a grotesque satire, like I more or less did. YV of course disagrees with this, as she is just like that, and Lozlan acts in a way that seems to scream desperately for confirmation of his sense of morality. Don't worry, dude, you're moral all right. Just don't overdo it like this.

Simultaneous
acknowledgment of a subjective judgment and the dismissal of the
judgment as absolutely meaningless to the argument isn't hypocritical
in the slightest. There are plenty of pictures of me that make me look
like a deformed lemur. Sure, the girl is no beauty. The lightning in
the pic is atrocious, she looks unhealthy and (due to her positioning
by her partner) gargantuan. She just gave birth, and no one looks like
a pornstar after squirting out a sprog. I don't hear anyone mocking
the photographer, however.
Glad I could give someone a laugh, though.

I think Lozlan needs to get off her high horse and stop taking what is said here so seriously.

I think Lozlan is justifiably frustrated by how quickly an important issue was turned into a diss-fest against a 15 year old who just gave birth. The focus of conversation should be on the problems of teenage pregnancy and what type of sex ed is (and isn't) being taught to these kids. And even though Queenzone is not known for its eloquent or serious posts, some interesting and valuable discussions have taken place here. Sadly, I think too many people - on and off Queenzone - are either to uncomfortable with or apathetic to the issue at hand to discuss it in a mature or productive manner.

I like to think that my horse is actually quite stumpy. You know, sort of a righteous Shetland Pony.
magicalfreddiemercury phrases it perfectly. I've seen constructive discussions manifest on these boards before, and was sort of hoping I could draw this thread away from generic OMG crap and focus on the sociological implications of the issue at hand. Given, I think I might have been remiss: amidst all my concern airing, I didn't actually bring a fresh perspective to the table. I think examining their relationship/pregnancy/choice to give birth from a class angle might be interesting; both the girl and the boy come from low class families, with little to no chance of class mobility. Or, hey, how about sex ed? I'm actually not nearly as familiar with the state of sex education across the pond...do you guys have the same 'abstinence only' bullshit that gets tossed aroud stateside? Or there's examining the reaction to the boy's appearance of the girl's list of previous sexual partners...what's the nature of moral condemnation in relation to sex and/or procreation? How does age impact impressions of culturally perceived sexual perversity?
The list of possible discussions is endless. As is the list of stupid crap people can post. I was less interested in bearing the burning brand of my own awesome awareness and slightly more interested in, you know, having a conversation.
