yes folks,dust down your ABBA platform boots and the Bucks Fizz skirts and let 'Love Shine A Light' into our little hole of recession as this years wonderful Eurovision nonsense kicked off with the first semi-final in Moskva last night [next semi on Thursday with the final on Saturday].
this years proves just one thing and that is just when you think it cant get any more ludicrous,it does.
cop a load of the fellow from the Czech Republic in this clip and tell me that Eurovision is not the greatest show on Earth.
and no its not Freddie in a red cape [which does appear to be this years fashion accessory in Europe]

I told you Jon, I just wonder whether the man actually has testicles, or if he's a eunuch to sing like that. Either that or he's REALLY good at pretending to be a cat in heat.
As far as the Dutch act goes...their act was better last year. Three middle aged guys trying to sing Europop does not good entertainment make; unless they are going for pity votes.
Those two boy bands from the first semis weren't too good either; they didn't even have the audience with them. Though I have to admit the star of the night was the Czech Republic. I was glad that my boss had left by the point they came on, or she'd have come down to my office and wondered what in the hell was so funny! (Had to lug my laptop to my office to use their internet connection; it's faster than mine!)
You guys should let Australia in...and Canada as well. Of course I also think you should let us in; we could provide you with a real cowboy act from Texas that would guarantee that at least the UK wouldn't be dead last at the end.

im having a small gathering tonight for the second semi-final and we've decided that we shall have a parlour game of doing cocktails and vodka jellies every time we see on tv [maximum 2 jellies per act]:
a] a white suit
b] a red cape
c] an accordian
d] break dancing hobbits
we dont expect to able to see straight when the votes start...
the favourite is in tonights qualifier,is Norway a nice place to go to this time of the year?
and of course,we should let the colonies enter. it would be curious to see how the red cape dude from the Czech Republic would do in Texas lol
