Perhaps you should look at it a different way.
Paul Rodgers sure looks to be in more "touring form" than Brian and Roger and the spares they put together in this recent band.
Brian still poses the same way he did back on the 82 tour. The solo is the same delay-pedal madness that we're used to. Roger continues to just add more gate to the snare drum. We all love these guys and enjoy watching them play, but it's not something we haven't seen before.
If someone of 'Freddie's calibur' were to come along, I think he'd pass on the old guys and try something fresh.

I agree with that last statement in bucketloads. they are the old band, set up as a new band, doing the same old things. As a result, imho of course, they seem to only play to the converted which must be very frustrating. Sebastian said that they should have renamed the band something else and i agree, it would have allowed them to be viewed as something else and been able to gain new fans and touch different people and also not have that huge wave of expectation on their shoulders. The comos was always going to be reviewed badly once its stacked up with their own back catalogue. Of course they wouldnt be able to play arenas which is probably the point. I mean, why would you want to slum it again. Now the new stuff is okay (depending on your opinion) but lets face it, live, everyone would rather hear we will rock you, bo rap and somebody to love. Their greatest hits are so popular now it really doesnt even matter who sings or plays the songs anymore. I think they were in danger of becoming their own tribute band. Or maybe they did i dont know. Even the songs that they chose to do on their tours seemed to be the most popular ones. But saying that, they both love to tour, they love the adulation and more importantly it keeps them happy which we all deserve so...............

Oh yeah the question. i think its a good thing really. I think it´s sad in a way. Queen+Paul Rodgers has had their time i think, and that´s too bad, cause I kinda liked it. Well, better than nothing right? I wish Paul good luck with BC or whatever the hell he´s going to do. Anyone know if there is some grudges that might have passed us by? Was it really Paul leaving Queen and not the other way around?
Everyone seems so anxious about a new greatest hits, single box set or a 70´s dvd.
I WANT NEW MATERIAL!
Either solo stuff or as "Queen" but now I definitly think it´s time to leave the name Queen to rest. As in other threads, I´d hate to see Brian and Roger turn desperate and hire a new singer right away. I think they should focus on writing new and hopefully "harder" material and then see what happens...IF, they still want to of course. Otherwise I think they should call John and get together for a cup of tea and reminess about the good old days.

Hi,
So what do we really think about PR (Paul Rodgers) leaving Queen is the question....here's my answer.
Had there been a North American tour, Paul would've stuck around, plain and simple.
Blame the record company all you want for bad promotion but the fact is, the album (cd) "The Cosmos Rocks" did quite well with a: me, b: I write that for although I lack PROOF, it's as if "Through The Night" was written with my song "All Through The Night" in mind, (another discussion for another time).
It's a shame, for I too think another QPR release (not just another live album) would've done well, remember Queen, the 1st release didn't do well either.
No matter who sings for Queen, with Queen, as a member or another Queen + (insert name here please) there'll always be "nobody better than Freddie" but then again, Queen + Paul Rodgers was an effort to be a relatively new band.
So what do I think? The Bad Company reunion with Paul and the 10 dates they have in the USA could've been the QPR Cosmos Rocks tour in the states, plain and simple.
I think they should've hired QueenZone to do the marketing, seriously!

.....it's simple for me.....it sucks that he is leaving...
I was glad to get to see Brian and Roger live...playing Queen music in big venues...I thought Paul did a great job....no one would ever be Freddie ever so get over it and just enjoy the new music and seeing Brian and Roger having fun again...after all they are a huge part of the band that I have admired so much
yet there were always bitching people...saying "why are Roger and Brian making music....Queen died in 1991...the stupid "how dare they use the name of the band they founded and were in for 20 years" etc.....it seems that many would prefer that Brian and Roger do nothing....no music....and yet many of the same people just want them to search through the archives and release old videos....Most of these people I think were more Freddie fans than fans of the band....loved the vocal but did not fully grasp or appreciate the music behind the singer....Queen fans were always somewhat divided behind their allegence to one member or another so it is not at all surprising...some liked the heavy rock stuff....others liked the synth-laden softer pop songs...oh well
I really enjoyed what Brian and Roger did with Paul and I hope they may still find a way to do charity shows or make another CD...if not I hope Brian and Roger can still make new music together.....I hope I have some new music to look forward to.

I agree, when Paul Rodgers would've been the lead singer since 1970 and died of Aids in 1991 and there was some guy from Free called Freddie Mercury who fitted in and sang with Queen for 5 years he would've been no Paul Rodgers. And a lot of Queenzone would be relieved that Freddie finally left Queen.
Queen without Paul Rodgers is no Queen!!!!!
It should've been called Queen Minus John & Paul + Freddie Mercury!!!!!!!!!11oneone!!1onetwo!1

Really dissapointed that it's over. I love TCR, and I'd rather have a new album from Q+PR and a tour (Australia please) than the anthologies at this point. Once the anthologies hit, that's it. All over. No more Queen.I'm far more interested in what new stuff they might come up with in the next 5 years or so. Can't see them touring at 70, but who knows.

What I REALLY think ? (topic question) :
I think Paul Rodgers joined Queen (or what's left of it) at the right moment in time (for me personally) and I also think he left at the right moment in time. I fully enjoyed it while it lasted (visited 7 shows), but I won't lose a minute of sleep now he's gone. It's been great and it's good that it's over now. Time to move on!
There are so many fantastic bands out there that are so much more exciting to see perform live in concert than ANOTHER Queen + Paul Rodgers tour could ever possibly be.
Good to see at least ONE person within Queen + Paul Rodgers is wise enough to see this too...

What has queen got from this relationship? A new average album, a few live dvd/cds noone really wants and fair enough a good tour.
What has paul got from this relationship? Same as above plus new fans so he could release his own stuff have a world tour and reform his own band. Not bad eh.

Oasis? The Sex Pistols? The Stone Roses? The list goes on..

With regards to Q and PR, I really don't have much strong feelings either way, I thought their live concerts were absoultelly stunning and incredible but I never wanted to buuy the album for some reason, I just didn't want to feel emembarrassed for them!!!! haha.

So now that Paul's left and both sides say they parted amicably.. I'm happy if Bri and Roger are happy!
I'm OK with them splitting up.
It ran it's course. I'm glad I got to see the tour when it came to town but I thought the CD was poor and didn't really care if they released another.
