if Queen continue - would you rather have a Freddie soundalike?

the title says it all
some people seem to slag off Paul Rodgers cause he's nothing like Freddie.
to me, that's why the project worked. he did it his own way. the songs were the same but done in a different way
for Brian and Roger to go out with a Freddie soundalike would be insane imo. no one can do freddie mercury like freddie mercury. anything else would be a cabaret

Would be nice for one song. Like Gary Mullen, but no...
That would not add anything to the Queen catalog.
Soundalikes are only good at singing what's already there.
A good singer with the musical interests of Freddie would be better.
Have a competition where everyone can write a couple of interesting songs, record a demo, send it to Brian and Roger and have them listen to these demos for about a month. Then let them pick out like 12 songs on which they will play and produce.
Queen + Newcomers...
A lot more interesting, and very exploitable for QP, so it might even have a chance. ;)

No soundalikes!!! Might work for AC/DC but not for Queen ;)

No soundalikes for me either. Thats why the Q+PR stuff worked for me - Paul definetely wasnt trying to be Freddie.
Gary Mullen is a good singer and can sound like Freddie, but can he write songs like him? Is he musically capable like him? And the same goes for any other Freddie wannabe's. Are they capable? I suspect a lot of them arent.

I also agree that Queen should never go on tour with a sound-alike. That would be very insulting. Gary Mullen puts on a good tribute show, but that is all he is, a copy cat. Remember Gary isn’t Freddie Mercury and he doesn’t want to be.
Queen with Gary Mullen (or whoever) would be like making love to a transvestite. it seems like a real girl, but in the details, its not.
They do need someone else if they are going on tour again though, what with Brain’s vocal range not being that great and Roger stuck behind a drum kit.

Pffft is all I can say to that. Brian managed stuff live that Freddie couldn't (at least not in 86).

It's very open to debate how GOOD Brian sounds.. some people can't stand his voice... but he has a better live range than what Freddie had when he quit.

Brian has improved as a singer over the years - no doubt!
but to compare him with Freddie? are you nuts? I'm not into techinal terms when it comes to singing- but I know for a fact that brian hasn't got the power in his voice to deliver a set like Freddie did on wembley - even though it was an off night for Freddie vocal wise
range and power are two different aspects.

Okay sorry, I think I mixed up RANGE and POWER. I shall learn from my mistake.
But you understood what I meant, right?

Brian singing ballads in the studio = potentially great. I like his voice. I find it a bit similar to McCartney's.
Brian singing anything live = could be good, could be bad. Depends on the song.
Brian singing live while effectively playing rythm or lead guitar = mostly disastrous, particularly with rockers.
Roger singing up front to a backing tape or guest drummer = can't stand it
Roger singing while drumming in the back = LOVE IT! but can he do it for 8-10 songs as opposed to a couple?
Roger singing while drumming up front = Chuck Norris' level awesomeness!
I don't like AKOM but I loved Roger's version in the 2008 tour.
It could work, as long as it doesn't get weird or shitty like Queen's Day at Amsterday 2002. No female back up singers, additional drummers or lead guitarists, please.

Rufus Taylor could drum for a few songs to let Roger sing, but it still wouldn't be 'Queen.' It would be watered-down Queen, instead of a different take on Queen, like with Paul Rogers. I'm not a fan of the Cosmos Rocks, except a few songs, but I liked them live, Paul allowed them to be strong, even if they were different. I think if just Roger and Brian toured, it would be so weak. They could do it, but would probably struggle to carry it by themselves, which is hardly how they want to be portrayed.

Lead Singer from Manic Street Preachers for Rock,
Lead Singer from Keane for Ballads.

Quite easy answer, no.
Gary Mullen is awesome and his show is pretty much as close as its gets, but involving him in Queen...well, that would be quite weird. However, it would be interesting for just one song though.
However, a tour with Brian and Roger....thumbs up!

A Freddie look-alike would be far more effective.

Now, let this song be something from The Cosmos Rocks and we're looking at a lot of mislabeled mp3's in the following years and probably a misleading Wikipedia article saying the song was recorded originally by Freddie. Have this song be one of the Rodgers penned songs in there and it gets weirder.
