if Queen continue - would you rather have a Freddie soundalike?

Realistic choices for a future frontman would have to include

Jordan Knight from NKOTB
Gary Barlow from Take That
Brian Harvey or Tony Mortimer (if you know them you should shoot yourself right now)
perhaps Mark Wahlberg as Marky Mark

Also, I think they should consider adding a rapper into the lineup for streetcred.
Someone with hardcore credibility... like... Will Smith as The Fresh Prince

I see good things for the future of the Queen brand.

They do need someone else if they are going on tour again though what with Brain’s vocal range not being that great and Roger stuck behind a drum kit.

Pffft is all I can say to that.  Brian managed stuff live that Freddie couldn't (at least not in 86).
It's very open to debate how GOOD Brian sounds.. some people can't stand his voice... but he has a better live range than what Freddie had when he quit.

Brian has improved as a singer over the years - no doubt!

but to compare him with Freddie? are you nuts? I'm not into techinal terms when it comes to singing- but I know for a fact that brian hasn't got the power in his voice to deliver a set like Freddie did on wembley - even though it was an off night for Freddie vocal wise

range and power are two different aspects.

Brian was fantastic on the Super live in japan dvd... LOML was fantastic. But he was not ever close too Freddie live, even Freddie on a bad day in the 80s sounded better than Brian at his best (Freddie bad in 79 another story)

Here's one from left field. How about Ian Gillan coming on board?

Lead Singer from Manic Street Preachers for Rock,
Lead Singer from Keane for Ballads.

I just went to a Keane concert in DC last night; Tom Chaplin is a damn good singer!  Way better "live" than on the CDs.  And while I understand your choice, I don't think he's Queen vocal material.  (Yes, I actually found my mind wandering in that direction while I was listening, I must admit...)

A soundalike might create the image that Queen desperately need to get back to their old goods.
I think a soundalike would be fatal because this would bring up even more discussion about the "replacing FM thing".

If you need a soundalike watch this:

There you have a soundalike from a cover band called Mercury. Shall Queen become their own best cover band? ;-)

Brian has a nice range, but he has very limited power. I'd rather hear someone miss a few notes while belting rather than hitting all the notes and not putting the energy behind it. BUT, I think Brian and Roger should have been featured more on vocals in Q+PR - live and particularly in the studio.

So what do people think of my suggestion of bringing in Ian Gillan?

I would like to see a female singer with Queen playing not the stadium anthems but the others songs which we love so much:)
A girl with a power quality voice who doesnt have to look like Freddie.....

Okay sorry, I think I mixed up RANGE and POWER. I shall learn from my mistake.
But you understood what I meant, right?
I understand it but I don't necessarily agree that it's important.  I think that it's more important that someone sing what they're singing with some sincerity.  Depending on the song, I think Brian's has a genuine feeling that I didn't always get from Paul Rodgers.
As I said; I'm not debating whether or not Brian would do it 'the best'.  I'm merely pointing out that he could do the job.  And I certainly prefer some of his stuff to hearing Paul Rodgers...  I refuse to think that the guy singing on "Another World" couldn't do as good a job.  If not better.

It could work, as long as it doesn't get weird or shitty like Queen's Day at Amsterday 2002. No female back up singers, additional drummers or lead guitarists, please.
