I think alot of people who found Queen later, i.e. the BOn Jovi/ G n R crowd whio think that AKOM is incredible, don´t ´´get´´ classic peroid Queen. Too subtle, not enough going on, boring etc. Still, different strokes I suppose.

I "get" classic Queen, I like most songs on the first 8 records.. I will say I loathe Bon Jovi(with an exception or two) and AKOM has some good songs, but overall, its one my least favourites. Yes I like the harder rock of the first 8 Queen records.. to me, they didn't make another album like that until the Works came out. Hot Space also has some good songs, but IMO, they don't appear until side two-- again, its a personal preference.

SaskQueenFa, you have every right to think whatever you want. However, do you mind not using bold? It reads as if you're shouting.

hey, that bold is a bit too shouty for my old ears. Different strokes as I said and lets face it if we all liked the same Queen records then they just wouldn´t have been as big - ie; they would only have had one or two big albums and then perhaps we wouldn´t all be here talking about them. (hang on, maybe that wouldn´t be such a bad thing he he!).

Bold is yelling??? I always thought that CAPS were the equivalent to shouting... I just used bold to make it easier to read...

Of the others, I agree about Fun It, Sweet Lady, Back Chat and Khashoggi's Ship making a ten worst of list. However Dancer is a guilty pleasure for me; not a great song but one that I love listening to and Put Out The Fire is IMO a terrific song. You Take My Breath Away is one that I enjoy but don't love. Freddie was superb on it however. Staying Power is my favourite song on Hot Space and one of Queen's best, so I can't agree with that at all.

For years and years I loathed Sweet Lady. Skipped it every time. Then one day I listened, and liked it, and haven't looked back. "Sweet like some I'm kind of cheese" is still on the awful lyric list though ...

Actually love the riff from sweet lady - first thing I play whenever I pick up the electric.

It does indeed have awful lyrics, however the guitar and drums are great; particularly Brian's solo at the end. However it's still by far my least favourite song on ANATO (other than God Save The Queen which doesn't count.)

YOU ARE SICK!

Who the f*ck you think you are to criticize THESE MUSICIANS???????????????????? AND TO EVEN GIVE THEM A PIECE OF YOUR OWN WICKED MIND?

I will really forward this now to Brian! You, God dammed arsehole!
Funny 'cos NONE of the songs on the original list were written by Brian.

I really don't think that Freddie sang with an American accent. Not compared with Mick Jagger, Elton John, George Michael and the like. Maybe on a few songs but when he was just singing naturally I can't hear an American accent at all.

I'm surprised to see Friends Will Be Friends in this thread! I always felt a bit...wrong...for not liking the song! I always found it boring, cheezy and unoriginal.

I've also found that songs I skipped over and didn't like as a youth are now some of my favorites.
It is all random

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the following songs-

Bohemian Rhapsody
Don't stop me now
Killer Queen
Crazy little thing called love
Innuendo
Somebody to Love
The Show must go on
Hammer to Fall
A Kind of Magic
And of course...Drowse.
I like some of those... xD

Uhh... Don't really like the album version of "Love of My Life" I prefer it when it was sang in concert...
"Drowse" is a bit naff, I will say that.
Can't think of many more off the top of my head... Oh, "Invisible Man" scares me for some reason - particularly whenever it starts and I'm not expecting it. And I'm not a major fan of the beginning of "One Vision". Scared the crap out of me the first time I heard it. Like the rest of the song, just not the beginning of it.
