Folks, it's hypocritical of me to say this but...

What really matters here is Freddie's suffering and eventual death.

Not whether we'd ever get more songs from him.

I say "hypocritical" because I've had the same feelings about "no more songs". I feel wretched when I catch myself doing it.

And, no, I'm NOT picking a fight.

It's about the man. A man for whom so many of us had a great deal of affection.

Hi Martin,

this is not a reason for starting a fight .... I really think most of us feel/felt the same: Freddie´s loss and his suffering is what really matters .... but on the other hand I believe it is also a natural and legitimate feeling to keep wondering "what if? ... what if?" .... and know what? everytime I find myself wondering that of course I think about the fans´ joy in case Freddie was still around, but ... above all ... I think in terms of Freddie´s own joy and happiness for still being able to be foolin´around and simply ... living.

Last moments of Freddie

Very little is known of the last hours of Freddie

Mercury. His ailment was carefully kept in secrecy during

years. Only some of his closest friends, their friendships and their

boyfriend Jim Hutton, was with the star of the Queen in these moments of

difficult.

The disease

Severe pain reached its last days of life. Hutton commented

that the last time Mercury was aware that was on Friday 21

November 1991. Where was the Garden Lodge (sumptuous and extravagant

Freddie loved that mansion).

The gardener and the haidresser of Freddie lie down next to

Mercury, he said with a sigh: "ready... everyone will know." If

referred to the letter where it was officially announced with AIDS and that

the international press would be delivered at midnight. Mercury wanted

because he doesn't want the press sensational British give the

first new.

It was a kind of revenge after the tabloids speculated for months the state of your health.

His last words

The 10 pm on 23 he shook terribly, his drugs and screams:

four pirulas analgesic (treatment with AZT and other

drugs he had left weeks before). Hutton and Mercury was in the

bed and fell asleep hugging. In the morning of Sunday the 24th.

Mercury has requested that it Trus some fruit. Got slices of mango and

a glass of juice to combat the chronic dehydration that suffered.

He ate the fruit and Jim went back to sleep. A few minutes after the 3

the morning, Freddie agreed Hutton by screams. Opened his mouth in despair

pointing his throat and his face showed panic. Hutton didn't know

what to do. Passed if more than 30 minutes to reach the

Nurses of Freddie, Joe. Both addressed alcalma so, Joe looked

to Freddie in the gorge and saw that it was a piece of mango and

Freddie had no strength to swallow and not to spit, Joe withdrew

shortly after the mango and Freddie back to sleep. At six in the morning,

Freddie said his last words: "Pee, pee."

The call of death

Jim and Joe took him to the bathroom carrying her because he couldn't

get more up. When returned to bed, they listened an astonishing noise

breaking a bone. Mercury is contort in pain and started to take

seizures. Tried to calm him, but it was useless. They called the doctor

Gordon Atkinson, that earnings at Freddie an injection of morphine, but he

was allergic to it. Atkinson said that Freddie was only the second

fair. Mary, his confidant and heir was visiting him in the morning. Elton

John also visited Freddie. Then came another friend of Freddie,

Dave Clark. Freddie never been so bad as now. Rarely

response to an external stimulus. His eyes were glazed. Clark got

Freddie's hand and went about his cat Deliah.

Mercury wanted to go to the bathroom, but couldn't say more

nothing, just being in your bed. Hutton asked that they left all the

fourth would change as Freddie. When Hutton was replacing it,

Freddie wanted to help with its few strengths, your leg slightly subu

left. This was his last effort.

Hutton says that the feeling that lost his leg strength, realized one of the legends of rock world was dead.

Jim took Freddie in his arms and covered in kisses. Said the

by radiant, as if the end had gone all wrong, again

to be that shook the world with his art, charm and voice...

I was 10 years old, not into western music/rock music at all, could not understand English very well.
Needless to say I had no idea who Freddie Mercury was, but I remember the news that night when they showed a "King", standing on a big stage, displaying his crown to a huge crowd of pleople. They said he had died of AIDS. I remember my mother remarking that this man  was an Indian, though he did not look like one to me.

That's my recollection of that day.

Fans in the U.S. were spared a lot of the bad press that seem to be going on in the U.K..  Within a 24 hour period, we had Freddie's demise AND Magic Johnson announcing he was HIV positive.  Now everyone knew that Magic Johnson was about the most heterosexual athelete going, so that helped people understand, rather quickly, that it can affect everyone, not just "gays and drug users", as we were led to believe for many years.

It's too bad that Freddie didn't have Magic's doctors.

That cheap Jim Hutton book, I despise that he gave too many details about Freddie's private sad ending.
I have a man-crush on Brian's solo on Delilah
It was a matter of doctors? As I understand it was Freddie just saying it was time nature did what it had to do

This is certainly the morally superior way to look at Freddie's death. You'll get no argument from me, there.
Unfortunately, I was young, and, selfish, and, oblivious at the time. It wasn't until I lost someone very close to me to AIDS that I was able to truly understand the level of suffering Freddie must've experienced, and, began to admire him more as a man of courage, and, a true lover of music. I can't imagine what it must have taken to continue to make music, under the circumstances. And, that isn't even going into the all the other suffering caused by the press, which added to the mix a certain level of humiliation that must have been exquisite.

Now, I not only admire Mr Mercury for the music he made, but, for the man he was.
It is all random

I went through that stage of wishing freddie lived for another year, so we fans could have one more album,  and I think it's only natural to wonder how many more great songs was still left in him.  Nothing too feel guilty about, it's only natural.  Freddie suffered a horrible slow death, but he's not the first or the last person in this world to suffer at the end of his life.  Everyone will eventually see a family member die from an illness like aids, or cancer.  I hope I go fast.

Hmmm, strange thing. The quote queenpaulo have is not correct according to the Peter Freestone book.....even if it was quoted from Jim Hutton, no one can really know if its true since other people close to Freddie says someting different. I dont believe Hutton, but thats just me.

Brian and Roger were there. The footage they recorded that night will be used as an extra on the dvd-collection "Mercury & Me: Private Moments, Raunchy Sex and Insane Laughter" which will appear in 2011 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of his passing away. Other highlights include Freddy wetting his pants, Freddy getting a piece of mango shoved into his throat and Freddy in a bubblebath with two lovers who do things to him you won't even see on Rotten.com. All uncensored ofcourse. The special edition will include a t-shirt with the last picture of Freddy (made 9 minutes after he died by Jim Hutton) with the words "Farokh Bulsara 1946-1991" beneath it.
