there's a recording of the entire evening from the Dream Theater/zappa plays zappa evening in Toronto on dime now:-)(weren't you going to see that show?)
Wish I could have, but I had a gig to play that night. DT played Take The Time and a Rush cover... The Camera Eye !
Oh, a pity you were unable to attend! (I guess that's the disadvantage of being a musician yourself:-)
Fantastic how DT always surprises their audience, isn't it:-)

It may sound funny, but one album on which I think there's definitely a heavy Queen influence is Silverchair's last album. To me the influence is clear: from the vocals, the songs' structures to the guitar playing, which has a more warm and melodic feeling to it, even in the harder tracks.
Hell yes. Especially "If You Keep Losing Sleep."

I feel a little like they're ubiquitous before their time. If their material continues to improve the way it has though, they'll have earned a place alongside some pretty big names. More power to them!

I saw them live as well... really powerfull... but not my stuff. Guess I'm the only Queen fan who doesn't like them too much. ;-)
The Resistance has leaked yesterday. Did someone hear it??
I have already heard it like 5 times and I think it's awesome!! The best in years. By the way, it's full of Queen influence.
Some highlights: Resistance, United States Of Eurasia, Unnatural Selection, I Belong To You and of course the three parts Symphony, Exogenesis.

I only heard one muse CD, and it does have a lot of queen influences. Good band which is rare for a modern rock band.

I hate to break it to you, but Queen is not the only band worth listening to (I know it's a matter of opinion, and we could argue this for hours/days/weeks/months I'm sure, but let's just assume that I'm right... which I am). As far as I'm concerned, Muse is a great band.
I'm really sorry if I sound like an asshole, I just get really burnt out over Queen fans who are constantly nit-picking over other musicians because they either sound nothing like Queen, or they admit to liking Queen okay, or they're obviously influenced - and therefore completely ripping them off, or whatever. I think from age 6 to about age 14 I only ever listened to Queen and absolutely nothing else, and I'm still a massive snob in some areas. So I've been where you are to some extent. But take some deep breaths and repeat after me: Queen is just a band... they're awesome, but they're just a band... they're just a band...
Again, sorry if I sound like an asshole. I'm aiming more for dry humor/snark than actual hostility (and if it helps, Freddie was notorious for having dry humor. Or am I not allowed that because Freddie had it first? I kid, I kid! Joking!)

Yep, and I'm going to see them! Woo Hoo! I'm mainly going because of Muse. [/img]
Cool! I went to see U2 earlier this year in Amsterdam and was a bit disappointed to be honest.. maybe they shouldn't play stadiums. Snow Patrol to opened for U2 in Amsterdam (quit disappointing too :-) )
Enjoy Muse!!

Another fantastic band: Manic Street Preachers (sorry for being off topic!)
I wish I could see them, as well.
They DO tour the US now and again.. Maybe they are sometimes close to where you live. It's a great live band.

Looking at your other musical preferences I must say I;m not surprised you don't like Muse :-)
