That's something else I've been learning, haha. All of these old lyrics I'd consigned to the scrap heap have been finding new homes in my pal's unfinished tunes.

Crazy how well it works sometimes.
These lyrics, I consider incredibly cheesy, but I guess I'll share them.
Shining Light (influenced by Lennon)

Just think of all the people
think of all those lives
think of the ones who have nothing
every day they cry
Chorus: Think of all the people
Every day and night
Maybe we can help them
and be their shining light
Be the one to stand tall
for those who are small
pick up the phone and make the call
come and join in one and all
Well they try every day
working to get by
But they still know they can't do it alone
even though they've tried
chorus
You should raise up your voice
speak of those in need
stand out and rise above the crowd
Don't do anything for your own greed
We should all join together
Spread our wings and fly
but the world's still filled with people
who make their way by their own lives
chorus
guitar solo
And when everything gets settled
when everybody starts to feel fine
then we can all come together
we will guide our shining light
Now poor and rich can work together
to make the world a better place
No more war or famine
In a land of peace and grace
chorus

ive recently been going through my old lyrics for our old band from about 20 years ago after looking for something else and finding the lyrics instead,i think i invented EMO by the looks of it.God they are depressing.
and what the heck was i on when i wrote Dream Masters?
"can you feel the needle entering your vein, there's so much pleasure to be insane" was the opening line :-p

lol wow.
Here's some lyrics I don't plan on using so I won't worry about anyone stealing them
Everywhere I look I see
another star in the stormy skies tonight.
Everywhere I go I find
another day where the sun shines a little bit brighter light
I've walked around the grassy plains
I've ran across the desert lands
only to find
a little bit of change
gone away
Every single night I dream
of a place where there's no war or famine
Every time a I awake from a dream
I can see that the world can be a dangerous place to live
I've sailed across my seven seas
I live to serve, I live to please
only to see
a little bit of change
gone away

Better than any of TCR's lyrics, for sure. And it addresses all those issues dear to Brian: CHANGE - this secular surrogate of a mantra - famine, world, light, war.
TCR style would be:
"War is totally out
Peace should be in
The world is drying out
Humanity is giving in
Let's go and cry out loud
For change is within our reach!
(solo)"
And that's one of my major problems with TCR - lalaalalaa is 16 years-old. Roger is 83. So you'd expect by him something in the vein of lalaalalaa's lyrics at least - some decent imagery, some lyrical content. But no: all we've got is "Surf's Up, School's Out": I refuse to have anything to do with an album featuring such lyrics. It doesn't concern me.
"Oh, do you like Queen, don't you? They have just..."
My answer: "No, I guess you're wrong. I hate Queen. I've been so into 50cent's anatomical studies lately. I just wrote this paper: Metaphors of the Body: 50cent and the Candy Shop."
Never listen to Queen when it comes to lyrics :P (For example, March of the Black Queen, though oddly enough, it works)
BTW- Roger grows up so fast if you say he's 83!!!!!!!
Here's some of my more recent work
The Piltdown Man (a song against evolution. The opening paragraph is spoken during the song)
In 1908, Charles Dawson, a lawyer and amateur archaeologist, claimed to have discovered fossil fragments near his home in Sussex, England. While walking along a road that was being resurfaced with gravel, he noticed some unusual stones. Further examination led him to conclude that the stones were actually fragments of prehistoric bone, leading to evidence of evolution of man.
Unfortunately for him, it was a fraud
Scientists looking for proof that man
came from evolution
Claim that man had come from ape
Supported by the Piltdown man
Fragmented bones of human and monkey
seemed to connect together
But certain key bones just couldn't be found
'Cause evolution is a load of sh*t
If evolution did exist
God would still be behind it
But in the bible it had never said
we came from fellow primates
The human race has capacities
No animal could ever fathom
We are complex creatures with more complex emotions
The belief in evolution is absurd
Chorus- Did he do it for fame?
Was it just an accident?
Did he try to support evolution?
Did he lie to all the scientific community?

I write music, and also songs.
Sometimes it's good, and sometimes it's not as good. If it's not as good as I hoped I wonder what went wrong and try to find a solution to the problem to make it better.
Composing isn't about divine inspiration, it's about working hard.

That's ok, I don't expect people will participate in this - and I certainly can't share mine, it's not recorded yet!

It's just a peculiar feeling I got. After months with no songs to offer (my bandmate on the other hand has about 10) I had an epiphany last night and this fully formed song shot out. And it's just so .... er .... apt. I wasn't even trying.

Just wondering how y'all felt about that kind of experience, heh.

So is that the name of it then - Epiphany?

Um............just what is wrong with the lyrics to We Believe? I don't know why you and others are so vitriolic about TCR. Not everything is perfect on it, but I like it. Some of it is good and some of it is fun, and then there's Surf's Up, School's Out..................

Lalaalalaa, your lyrics are beautiful, esp the first one.
I wish i could write, but i am really, really crap at it - "look at the bee, he flew into a tree" type of thing. I can write essays till the cows come home, but can't write anything poetic. Wish i could, i listen to songs sometimes and just about can't imagine that it once didn't exist, but someone made it, crafted it, and created such an incredible thing.

Thank you. You might want to be on the lookout for me in a few years, because I'm going to try to get an album out ASAP
