IF there is a God and IF he can seriously be bothered to recruit me into his dogmatic way of life then HE will show himself to me.
In the meantime I do NOT want to be told left and right by people who know NO more than I do about 'truth' that Jesus loves me and I will be 'saved' etc. etc. etc.

There's one I haven't heard before.
I thought when someone said that about everyone believing in something, it meant that people hold something to be true. Like believing that there is a God or believing that there isn't. i thought the person meant that everyone holds some sort of belief, not whether it is belief or disbelief to think something is or isn't true. If i believe i am eating a pear when I am eating an apple, i believe it is a pear, you believe it is an apple. The act of 'believing' does not affect the reality, it is an expression of my own perception of reality. But I am determined not to start this again. And particularly not in this thread.
