I actually like 'body language' live versions. But at the same token, the entire hot space album sounds better live, sharper and edgier.

Exactly. If they would record the songs in the same way how they played them live, the album could be a big hit

Come on, Bri and Rog, it´s time to go for a "rocks re-take" of the whole HS album !!
Utopic wish, but could be fun :P

edit: do not touch Under Pressure, though :D

I agree about hot space,  it's not an album I think about when I think of vintage Queen, but it still has it's merits and it is a feel good, fun album.  A guilty pleasure if you will. I only hate 3 or 4 songs on the album.  Body language, put out the fire,  calling all girls,  and maybe dancer.  That leaves 7 songs i enjoy in some way, though even those songs arn't vintage, except under pressure. The album as a whole still isn't nearly as bad as people say. If you compare with other bands weak albums, it's actually pretty good.  Judas priest's turbo album was a lot worse, and let's not even talk about metallica saint anger, possibly the worst album I ever heard.  Oh, and Innuendo is also one of my all time favorite albums.  It leaves hot space in the dust IMO.

Strange. Body Language, Put Out The Fire, Calling All Girls and Dancer are the only songs which I LIKE on the album :)
Turbo is great, but it's a "heavy pop" album :) Also Saint Anger is great, don't you love the fact that Lars Ulrich is such a genius that he's able to play on Coke cans ? :)
Innuendo is simply beautiful, but songs like Hitman need proper remastering

I don't mind a heavy pop record like Priest's point of entry album, but turbo sucked.  I'm sorry, but 35 year old men writing songs like parental guidence and wild hot crazy nights is embarrassing. saint anger?...I still say it's the worst album ever by a major band.    Innuendo does need a remastering Job big time.

Several days late, but I want to add my two pence:

* The bass is indeed composed and played by Freddie (on synths, that is).
* The song's not as 'simple' as it may seem at first. It does have an economic arrangement but that's a different matter.
* What does a song sexuality have to do with its quality? Is Ian McKellen a shite actor because he's gay?
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.

It has nothing to do with it.

However, some people (guys, mainly) could have a problem singing to or enjoying a song called "Do me from the rear, Jim". No matter how great the music is.

Still, with some of the music I've heard in the last few years, I guess a smoking hot female R&B singer could get away with a song like that and sell a shitload of records. :)

I love most of Hot Space, by the way. I used to hate Body Language but it grew on me. My current favorites are Staying Power, Dancer, Body Language, Put out the fire and my all time favorite Queen song: Under Pressure.

I play that album more than I play AKOM, The Works, The Miracle and Jazz combined.

(I know Jazz is a classic Queen album but it just bores me to death. Dunno why...)

I think that if a bloke discards a song just because it's gay, then it says more about him (and his own insecurities) than about the song itself. Same for allegedly gay movies, books, TV programmes, etc...

That's what's funny about football - chaps in skirts (sort of...) pinching their buttocks every time one scores, hugging and exchanging the occasional smooch (or not so occasional in some cases) during the game, crying like babies when losing... is there anything gay there? Of course not - it's human behaviour, plain and simple. But then, there's nothing wrong either with a man enjoying Karma Chameleon, watching 'Ghost', reading 'Brokeback Mountain' or joining a Demi Lovato fan club.

That might be stretching things a bit....;-)

I do like that one... yesterday I was on the bus and it came on the radio, I hadn't listened to it for donkey's years. I like the lyrics, very simple and direct.

I'd totally sing a song called "Do Me From the Rear, Jim" but I'd be afraid of you guys claiming royalties on it.

I'd definitely like a man who could pull that off with humour.  HILarious.
