So you wanna fight because (1) you accused a Queenzoner of bad English skills and (2) I showed yours are far worse.

Okay.  When and where, Mr. New York tough guy?

I have a hard time believing someone named Mike Hunt is not a p*ssy.

In a state with that big a population, there are plenty of kitty kats in New York.  I live in Dallas TX.  You give me your flight number, and I'll pick you up at DFW airport.  We'll drive to Dallas Cowboys Stadium and I will buy you a pink Tony Romo jersey.  Then I can show you the Oak Lawn area, which you would be very comfortable in.   After a few drinks with the "boys", then maybe you'll have enough courage.

Then you can change your user name to Mike Bitch, because you will be mine.  I already know you're Mike Hunt.

In your defense:  You know Rocky wasn't that smart either, tough guy.

It IS easy sitting behind the computer and acting tough.  But it is DIFFICULT sitting behind the computer and making grammatical sense, isn't it Mr. New York?  Instead of skipping class to beat people up, maybe you should have stayed in school.

2) If it's their 1st language, who gives a crap? This is a QUEEN forum, not a grammatically-correct-English forum. In fact, we could all speak Chinese if we wanted to since this is just a Queen forum!

Well yes & no. Yes in that it hurt him to go high in his vocal range...No, in that he in fact could go that high.

LMFAO! I love how everyone's getting into arguements about grammar errors!

Only an idiot would bring up grammer errors on a music forum.  We all know who that idiot is.

Only a moron would be dwelling on this for a week.

Lets just get back on topic. lol

"It was Mooghead's quote. "

Hey... careful. Someone comes on a Queen fansite and says Freddie cant sing then they get an 'improve English' warning. Couldn't give a shit if English is their second language. (and yes, their English is better than my.... whatever they speak)

This is all tongue in cheek by the way. I know how some numpties on here take everything literally.

What was the question again? I got lost in the argument.....oh yes, it was Freddie's range - what the fuck is a vocal nozzle? lol

I think that Freddie sang whichever way he wanted to anytime he wanted to, there were no other factors than his own personal choice or how he felt at the time. If he wanted to go for it, he would, if he wanted to calm it a little, he would - there was always at least one real gem of a show from each tour and one that was all over the place vocally....but it always came across that he was just experimenting with different ranges.

As for the other discussion on this thread, it has been quite entertaining - by far the most intelligent and classy quotes from Microwave I've come across yet. I'm actually beginning to like this guy! (Big hug and kiss from me too, then lol)

Look up clips from Tokyo 79 on youtube, and you definitely won't be convinced that his voice was ever in poor shape by choice.  He was very up and down in the 70s, solid in the early 80s, but by the mid-80s his smoking limited his voice greatly... most high notes were reached only by shouting.  He wouldn't go for the first note in It's A Hard Life not because he didn't want to hit it... it was because he couldn't.  In the studio you get as many takes as you want, and you can rest for however long you need, but live you get one chance.  Live is where the real voice comes to say hello.  While he had his countless moments of brilliance, it wasn't always pretty.

For those in the know, here's something I've always wondered... did Freddie take vocal lessons before the Barcelona sessions in 1987?  Or was he just able to turn on and off the opera influence like a light switch?

I've never heard anything indicate that he took lessons at that time.  I think he treated the opera thing like any genre or pastiche that he'd approached previously, in that he did a spiffing job of it for what he was (an untrained singer) but I guess if you were to hold him up against the standard of real opera singers it wasn't very good.
Not that I'd give a toss myself, I appreciate his Barcelona singing for what it is and not what it isn't...
Agreed.  Purists of any genre will always cut a guy like him to shreds for not having the right technique or whatever, but he tried out more genres than most other singers are even aware of.
