He he, you have a good taste :).
I have the same problem- that's why I'm spending so much time in the internet :)
Well, a job depends from your education. Or if you are a student then you need to look for something simple, as I call it "lousy job". And if you don't have experience- that's the one for a start :).
Does an advice from unemployed count?

zeb it took me 2.5 years to land something decent- and im about to graduate with a bachelors! its scary!

all i gotta say is just be annoyingly persistant, and apply EVERYWHERE. at some point you will get at least an interview, and eventually, someone will hire you!

it sounds really stupid, but it takes a lot of luck patience and ambition. and soup up your resume/job apps! make yourself available, but not "desperate". put every little bit of experience you can think of on that application and make yourself look good. you have a great sense of humor, so you will get along nicely with people, really "want" that job, and call back to see if theyve been going thru everything.

i hope that helps :-\ i never think youre a fool for not having a job- times suck right now :(. just keep trying, sell your soul for 20 minutes, and try applying anywhere. what do you want to do for a career?

the crap part is some places have to call you, not vice versa, its good to feel those ones out so youre not "bugging" the wrong people.

ill have more to say later :) but i hope this helps a little?

Zeb:

You're in NZ, right?  Would you mind posting the city where you live?
If not, would you please PM me?  I might be able to offer some
suggestions.

Do you dress like a freak at job interviews? If so, stop it. If not, try it.

Not the hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Oh cruel, cruel twists of life that cause everyone to shed their cool hair!  I was jsut thinking the other day as i drove to the college - where does all that hair go... so many college guys have long hair and it just vanishes somewhere between college and 30.

Sorry to hear you're having so much trouble getting work.  The work situation in Ireland is really bad at the moment, a lot of my friends have had to move to get work.  But a lot of people from here are going to Aus, i guess its getting tough there too.  I was job hunting last year, and it is not a fun place to be.  :(

Patience I have, ambition .... not so much.  I don't really have an idea of what I want to be doing (outside of the stuff I already do) which definitely works against me.  I just want to do some damned thing that'll get me paid, and the ambiguity of that statement means I never really know what to go for.[/QUOTE]

well, it is important to find a job that isnt considered "work" know what i mean? ;) you know what you love doing, maybe research how to make a career out of it? or better yet, since youre a creative soul, make a new job! you might be the beginning of a new awesome job everyone wants! one of my teachers did that. he used to work a 'paycheck to paycheck' deal, and he hated it since it had nothing to do with what he wanted to do. he did a little bit of research, and found a way to make a paycheck doing what he loves- theatre! he teaches classes in shakespeare, directs plays all over the region and has a grand ol time doing it! you could be one of those people (not nessesarily theatre, but you know what i mean).

Ha!  Laugh all you like; I think I'd be a terrific rent boy, she could do far worse!    The best thing about me is I'll work for peanuts!
