I must confess my real reason for posting this thread is that in 2006 I posted a thread bemoaning the fact that I couldn't afford a Red Special - and then a short while later I got one with money I didn't know I had.

Seriously though, hope you find something.

Apart from being yourself - there is nothing else you can do.

Forget equal opportunities. Forget political correctness here are the things people will never tell you:

Employers already have a  pre-conceived idea of the ideal candidate before anyone enters the door. There is nothing you can do about it - it just is.
For example if the employer is looking for a female employee (say to fit in a team) - and you are male, you will never get the job. Just like Eastwood, fine actor though he is, will not be the next James Bond - aint gonna happen, because he does not fit a pre-given criteria.
That does equal a reflection of Eastwood's skills, or state that he is unemployable, just that on this occassion - no job.

Ofcourse no employer would ever admit this because it will always be justified with 'she was the best person because...'
while in reality the truth is, she may not have been the best person at all, but the closest candidate to the imaginary ideal.

To combat this, the best you can do is do your homework -  find out what kind of ideal they are looking for - and mould yourself to fit. That does not mean rattling off your C.V. or qualifications - every candidate can do that. Rather, how you look, sound and react is more important. Remember it is a game. You only need to keep up this appearance for the length of the interview.

Also, the most important time is the first 20 seconds. After that it is over.
Practice being polite and confident. Smile. Shake hands. Act as if you belong.

If you have bad breath or cabbage teeth, forget it. It really is that trivial. If an employer does not take to you because you have blue eyes, don't get a transplant, because the next employer will not like your new brown ones. The reason I say that is not to cue a Crystal Gayle song, but because some people get obsessed with the idea I am too fat, I am too thin, I am too tall. Forget it. If the employer can't see past this superficiality, he is not worth working for.

So in sum:

Do your homework.
Act the part.
Be yourself.

Practice these skills with a mate or in the mirror. Just perfect being you.
Even before any interview - you really need to practice the above, as this will help you mould your generic applications to one which is really focused and specified for the job in hand.

(IE: No resume, C.V. or whatever, should be created as a 'one size fits all' type document, that is the last thing an employer wants to see.
Rather keep a 'hard core' C.V. on your P.C. and personally customise to fit the company or position you are applying for.
It is these individual neuances which make a world of difference).

No, catqueen don't wish him money. You will spoil him. What will he do after? Wish him a good job. It will bring a constant income.

Then just ask for help. There are rules to follow if you want to get the job. First of all, think properly about the resume. Actually, I would recommend you to check the https://top5resumewriting.services . Here you can find really relevant information about resumes, job applying, first interview and so on. It could inspire you on something, you know. And even it won’t I think that just order a resume there. It would definitely be a nice start, I am sure of it.
