I don't think it's about test of time in this case. I guess it's about the territory, the place of action.

Kiss is just one of those weird American things. There was a guy on the General Discussion a couple of years ago who insisted that Kiss were more influential than the Beatles to music.

I explained to him that this might be the case in his particular town. On a global scale though?? You've got to be kidding...
I know Queen are way more popular on a global scale, but in new york kiss are huge.

A little bit in defence here: The new 'Sonic Boom' album is actually the best record they made since the make-up came off!

KISS just had their most successful tour of Europe in 2008. They also headlined the Download festival for the second time (the first time it was called Castle Donington Festival). From recent rumors they'll be playing 8 shows in
the U.K. and 40 shows in Europe starting in May 2010.
They've been a functioning band for over 35 years. Can't say the same about Queen (who's my second favorite
band).
"Sonic Boom" has already sold more copies in the U.S. than "The Cosmos Rocks" and their current U.S. tour
has played to more people than the Q+PR U.S. tour. Queen peaked in the U.S. with "The Game".
BTW, guess who Brian May called when he needed a drummer for both his solo tour and to play a few Queen shows?
That's right, KISS' drummer, Eric Singer.
"Sonic Boom". Heard all around the world.
"Say Yeah"!

"KISS Behind The Mask - The Official Authorized Biography"
Brian May, Queen:
"I like KISS a lot. Queen were often compared to KISS at the time. We were sort of counterparts. They were the American version and we were the English version. I think we went into it with slightly different ideas. KISS came more from a presentation view to begin with and moved more toward the musical. I think we probably started in the musical and worked more toward the presentation. I have a great regard for KISS 'cause it's all-out. They just had their vision, they had their dream, and they damn well went for it."

Some may say that Q+PR was ripping of their fans.
I enjoyed the Q+PR tour and 2 concert dvds, but I think "The Cosmos Rocks" sucks.

Brian May, Queen:
Yes but it's not important what Brian May says. Some of us like to draw our own conclusions about the world. I don't really have a problem with Kiss at all, I have tremendous sentimentality towards some of their 70's material, but they are a joke. A lucrative, massively adored and iconic joke. Having said that, it worked for them and they have a lot to be proud of, being a hard working band for the better part of four decades.

But artistically, musically ... they're dreck. And that's why I love them - for what they are, and not what they aren't. I think that's why a lot of people on this forum have a problem with Kiss - they look for something that isn't there and miss the point entirely.
No, some of you live in a black and white world. Some of you could never think of liking more than one band.
Too many sheep who live inside the box. Can't think for yourselves.
I don't give a rat's ass if you don't like KISS (or no longer like KISS). Everything you've posted is only your opinion.
It's meaningless to me and everyone else.
BTW, a joke doesn't sell 100 million units worldwide, play to millions of fans worldwide, influence other bands in
various genres of music (rock, hard rock, heavy metal, pop, country, industrial, techno, theatrical, etc.), influence people to pick up a musical instrument and start making music of their own, and set the standard of what a rock show should sound like and look like.
"Unplugged" is a prime example of why your "dreck" comment is meaningless.
KISS set the standard. Everyone else followed their example.
