I was coming back to say something about Paul Stanley and "Live to Win" comes on. (shrug) I'll get to it later.

Well I hate Kiss for all the right reasons.
Queenzoners are certainly not Queen cultists. The way the band members have been torn apart by us in some of the discussions made me wonder if this really is a fan-site at all. But by and large we share a love for their music and like to discuss them, that's all. You just have to spend some time here and you'll soon realise that.

I wouldn't see Simmons as a moron. Shrewd, perhaps... opinionated, definitely ... but not a moron.

I think they're both resonsible for the success of the band. Gene seems to be the business mind. I may be wrong, because I dunno much about them frankly.

"I like KISS a lot. Queen were often compared to KISS at the time. We were sort of counterparts. They were the American version and we were the English version. I think we went into it with slightly different ideas. KISS came more from a presentation view to begin with and moved more toward the musical. I think we probably started in the musical and worked more toward the presentation. I have a great regard for KISS 'cause it's all-out. They just had their vision, they had their dream, and they damn well went for it."

I love Brian May with all my rock and roll heart, but that's just goofy. He rattled off the same 'often compared to/American counterpart' stuff in reference to Journey. He's too much the thoughful, magnanimous English gentleman for his own good sometimes. Unless I somehow completely missed KISS moving toward the musical.

Gene Simmons came to the U.S. when he was a boy. He spoke no English. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree
in teaching and taught 6th grade English.
Yeah, he's a real moron.
And yes, Paul Stanley is way cooler.

I agree with Brian's comment . Both bands basically played hard rock/rock and roll, wrote anthemic songs, and brought
some theatricality and drama to their stage shows.
The only thing Queen and Journey have in common is Roy Thomas Baker.
Go watch "KISS Unplugged", for example, to see what this band can do musically.

It's all such a matter of life and death for you isn't it? First of all I haven't given any indication of my taste in music in this thread, other than I like some Queen and bits of 70's Kiss.

Your turn to go quote-finding, buddy. You haven't the foggiest idea of what music I listen to. And even if you did it wouldn't change the fact that you approach such a trivial topic in a way that's so lugubrious I have to wonder if it's actually an act.

I guess unless I say "I like everything Kiss ever did", you're just going to keep saying "yer taste in music sucks, you're close minded etc etc". Y'know, musical preference is one of the most subjective and varied things a human being can have going for them ... and if I didn't spend so much time listening to and playing music, you could be forgiven for your (frankly ridiculous) suggestion that I don't have a grounding in the topic.
