Two weeks ago,Brian was on about the"excellent"production that was in Jedward's version of WWRY.

Well where was the "excellent"productions in all the songs in this week's X factor. The only one that i think might've passed was Stacey's version of WWTLF.

As for the terrible twats Jedward. When are these two gonna fuck off. What an embarrassment these two are. They didnt even do Under Pressure. Those who are voting them in should hang their heads in shame.

As far as i'm concerned, Queen ended in 1991 when Freddie died.

I hate to say it, but i dislike Roger and Brian doing all of this stuff since then. It's just not the same.

Your right. I mean didnt even like 'Queen'+PR! & after the X Factor charade.....we all know why they did it ....

Why has every there Musicain come on the show?.......TO PROMOTE THEIR NEW ALBUM/SINGLE. They did'nt even need to do that, people will buy Queen stuff anyway!

I wish Queen did what zep and the beatles did, and stopped in their heyday, or at least after freddie died.....  Made in heaven should have been it.

Agreed, those covers were all pretty mince. What a poor bunch of singers, first week I watched this series actually... haven't missed much by looks of it.

As for Brian and Roger, don't think it's just a commercial thing... they have all the money they need. I think it's a deeper will to keep themselves in the spotlight. It must have been hard remember to have been cut off from the public so suddenly and unfairly as when Freddie went. Only natural that they still live for the thrill of seeing a new album do well in the charts... they were obviously angry with TCR promotion (as Roger clearly stated in the fan club message) so the fact that it made no impact probably means they'll want the AHs to pack more punch... whether it's a compilation album or not, it still enters as a new album.

I obviously could be very wrong and it could be just mindless promotion, even if it is at odds with what they've said about such shows.

I wonder if the Jackson Estate still gets their slice of the profits even though it a charity single they're all going to release or whether they'll allow ALL profits to go to charity?

I find it hard to reconcile their behaviour with their opinions, to be honest.
I'm sure it'd make more sense if we knew them personally but alas that's out.
hey folks,

of course everybody is entitled to there own opinion on the way the song's were sung.

But seriously, to say your ashamed to be a queen fan...and to go on and on about how roger and brian are sell outs....Shouldn't you jsut get a life? i mean they have and can do waht they please. yeah some of the people on x factor are terrible and some are fantastic... if you think otherwise no reason to slam Brian and Roger. If you was selling a record and your manager said "x factor, great platform to boost sales" you would say no? im pretty sure Bon jovi probably went on there for a laugh aswell....nothign to do with a tour next year or new album...course not.

At the end of the day whether you liked there version of Bo Rhap or not...it was fun...let them have fun once in a while. it's hardly gonna ruin the original....it's still the same.

I think to get that bothered about it maybe you need to just be a little more open minded....or get out once in a while?

if you don't like waht they are doing then don't watch....if you do then your entitled to that aswell.

and as for calling them hipocrits...you never done anythign hipocritical?? thought so

just chill out, relax and enjoy it...its fun...it's music...it's universal...Queen never took themselves seriously, so why do you?

peace

hey,i dont wanna upset anybody, and i respect other peoples opinions but personally i dont like manufactured shite and it saddens me to see one of my all time favourite rock bands on a show that represents everything that is wrong with the music industry!!

Hmm.  (clears throat) so if something is utter crap (ie. all of those X-Factor performances), we're not allowed to say so??

I don't care if Brian and Roger sell out - I congratulate them.  I'd sell out in their position.  Fuck's sake you only live once ......

but lousy covers of Queen?  Come on, those kids are begging for a panning and they deserve it.  If all of us at Queenzone got together and put on our own Queen show (and it stank), wouldn't we be open to criticism?  Why should anyone (X-Factor not the least) be exempt from the same conditions as everyone else?

I agree it's all a bit of harmless fun, but as Zebonka said... they were all mince. Not one performance was good on the night by any contestant. Just search YT and you'll find some very good renditions of Queen songs on AI or XF, but on Saturday night they ALL sucked. The Bo Rap part on Sunday was embarrassingly bad too. These are the worst bunch of contestants to ever compete in one of these talent shows... singing the worst attempts at Queen I've heard yet. Fuck, even Red was better.

I agree it was good marketing to appear days before Absolute Hits comes out and I like seeing Brian and Roger perform whatever the occasion... but they have been extremely critical of these programmes in the past and at the end of the day they deserve to be bashed on a QUEEN FANSITE for appearing on something they have more than once panned, if that's what their fans wish to do.

You are being very naive or have misunderstood 'big time' when you defend their hypocrisy or taking themselves 'not serious' on this particular matter btw. (Just go to Brian's Soapbox and see if that is somebody that doesn't take himself that seriously lol). Me or you doing something hypocritical isn't going to have the same impact as somebody in their shoes doing the same remember! Especially on this forum.

Think about it before jumping on the defensive. I'm not looking for an argument, as I'm sure you weren't.

I am not of the mind that the rest of Queen should have curled up and died when we lost Freddie.  They are brilliant and experienced musicians and I am thrilled they are still working. They have in most ways served his memory beautifully, keeping him alive for us fans in word and music, and patient as Job when interviewer after interviewer raise his ghost no matter the focus. Their public expression of their personal and professional love for him is beyond reproach.  I thought their instincts with Queen + Paul Rodgers were spot on, and absolutely hope they find some worthy and credible banner to tour extensively under at least one more time.

But, but...

These men are rock royalty and the legacy is owed more regard.  Those who no longer have a say are owed more regard.  It's all very short sighted.  If you keep on popping endlessly out of trap doors and puffs of smoke and tv screens streaming some of the the worst banality of our times and generally screaming that  you're common as dirt, eventually people are going to believe you.

I agree all the performaces were shite, it actually exposed this years finalists more than any other week for having very weak voices(Better than mine admittedly but I didn't enter a singing contest on tv). However, Brian and Roger can't be blamed for the contestants performaces can they? I'd imagine they only spent 5 or 10 minutes with each of them for the cameras and the show to make out it was a masterclass.

And given the lack of publicity for AG coming from the record company, I don't blame them for going on. Although I do think it runs deeper than that with the two of them. When Freddie got sick and died they were essentially robbed of there careers in a way. I know they did solo stuff but its not the same is it? Going from Wembley stadium to small venues must have taken a bit of getting used to for them. I think it was the same with the QPR project, it gave them a taste of the adulation they were used to all those years ago. I know John doesn't need that but perhaps they do and if thats the case well its ok by me. Time is catching up on them so they're just getting the most out of this beast called Queen that they can before they get too old and ridiculous. It must be tough for them having this desire to work together as queen but constantly having the Freddie thing to contend with, when all they want to do is perform these songs for there fans. Its not to everyones taste but when was everything queen done to everyones taste anyway?

Anyway, back on track. The versions sucked on Saturday night and so did the BoRap bit on sunday but I still love seeing Brian and Roger together

Hi folksWell this is the 1st time iv been on here and wrote anything. And it seems quite an interesting debate
I never got to see Queen live with the master FM So i had to take in Q+PR I thought the whole experiance was awesome. Seeing to masters do what they do best, playing performing in front of 1000s of fans! Iv been down to London to see WWRY several times too. Not my cup of tea i have to say but its keeping the music alive

I just find it very sad that after so many years of saying they hate this kind of show and trying to find a star a band whatever and also having a HIT musical that slags off this kind of format that they appear on it!!!

Hi McPhesto, welcome to the boards. Good point you made. I've put off seeing the musical, but I've been bought tickets for Edinburgh tour so I'll need to go. But the musical does deal with the death of true rock n roll and corporatism changing the music scene.

You also add to the mix Roger's song ("statement" for better word) C-Lebrity which kinds of slags the whole over night star phenomena and how easy it is to be successful without the graft. Too then "mentor" these kids is sad. In that respect they've lost touch... which is bound to happen after all these years. Again, just look at Brian's nonsensical rants on his Soapbox. Who gives a toss about badgers and Owls?
