The Unblinking Eye (Everything Is Broken)

What happened to the protest song?

Music is now so polished, shiny and predictable, we have forgotten to try and “say something with it”

I am getting old and like everyone, have the right to say something about the “state of control” we live under – powerless to do anything about it.

In case you hadn’t noticed.

The high street is full of holes.

We are fighting a pointless actively negative war which is killing our young soldiers and which we simply cannot afford.

This war promotes and prolongs terrorism.

This is our Vietnam. Unwinnable. Pointless.

We are taxed and retaxed while the nation is not only broke but utterly bankrupt, being propped up with tax payers money and money which is simply printed.

We are spied upon by 5 million cameras.

We have thousands of petty rules and regulations – more than ever before – no wonder people are bewildered and confused.

As a nation we own almost nothing including “our” water, electricity, gas, airspace and major manufacturers.

Personal privacy is non-existent.

We are directionless.

I’m pissed off – you should be too.

The Unblinking Eye (Everything Is Broken) is to be released through QOL on Monday 23rd November 2009.

So, Roger is plugging Absolute Greatest in many TV and radio interviews but says nothing about his download only single?

I guess he was told not to say anything about it and I don't see many X Factor or daily show viewers downloading the track, but if it was MY digital single download I'd be pissed if I could not use 20 seconds of prepaid air time to promote it.

He's already on TV speaking about another compilation. I'm sure he could mention his new single The Unblinking Eye without getting into details as to what he's protesting about.

I guess thats the irony of the whole thing.
Roger writes a song about how we no longer have free will and everything is controlled and then he goes out under the control of the record label to promote yet ANOTHER Queen compilation and says nothing about his new music.
Or maybe he's just keeping quiet about it so as not to upset Bri ;-)

Either way - I can't wait to hear his new song.

Roger is going to be on Radio 2 tomorrow 19/11 to promote the single - on Ken Bruce's show.  I dont know what time he'll be on, but the show runs 9.30-12

A 1 1/2  min. preview can be heard on the members section of the official Queen FC site.
I just listened to it. Only the intro can be heard. It sounds like Foreign Sand 2. I'm sure it will be more epic later on.
Can't wait to hear the full song.

I know it's cheeky to ask, but is there an ychance someone can record that snippet for us all to hear?

If I were Roger I would've mentioned it in every single last sentence of my X-Factor appearance.  Either it would've been in the show or he would've appeared very silent.   Haha.

Host: So Roger, do you like the X factor?
RT: Well...  ... yeah... ... sure... ... Adam Bolton... is ..  ...  Great...

I'm sure they would have edited it into something cool like that "Rock Bottom" Homer Simpson interview when he was accused of sexually arrassing his baby sitter.

Couldn't find the real deal but I found this re-enactment. I love how the clock in the back keeps spinning around, hehe :)

I feel really bad for Roger, who believes he is overtaxed. Maybe he could cancel his monthly holiday in Bali, and put some money in his piggy bank for a rainy day. He could also use £10 notes instead of £20 notes to light his cigars. And here's hoping Absolute Greatest sells well, otherwise he may have to flog one of his dozen sports cars, or maybe some more flight cases...

I remember hearing Brian talk about the tax situation in some older interview or other.  I remember him specifically quoting some kind of capital gains tax where at Queen's income level if you invested the money you had to pay 98% of the profits in tax.  I don't care who you are or how wealthy you may be, nobody likes shovelling absurd amounts of their own money over to the government.  Whine on, Rog.  Just not on the f&*#ing X-Factor, k?
