Hi all,
Last Friday night BBC2 re-broadcast the 1975 X-mas concert.
This gave me the opportunity to record this in the only right way, which is to capture the satellite stream with my Dreambox 8000 satellite receiver.
I then used ProjectX 0.90.4.00.b31 to demux and mjpegtools mplex-2 version 1.8.0 (2.2.4) to multiplex for DVD.
I added some simple text menus using sourceforge dvdauthor, version 0.6.11.
Yes!!!! Thx so much. I was so hoping someone who knew how to do it right would have done it. 1000 times thank you!!!

"This has been downloaded 52 time(s)."
So, this is your second thanks !!
Anybody can discuss the comparison with the other share of the same broadcast ? It seems this one is better, reading the first post, but I'm a totally newbie as far as the video is concerned. Seeing no thanks makes me think it is inferior. Where's the truth ? ;o) o) o) o)
Regards,
Olivier,
Belgium.

This recording is exactly how it came from satellite, so is identical to as broadcast over satellite.
In the recording and authoring process, there is no loss what-so-ever due to analog cables or re-encoding.
So I can say with no doubt, that this is the best possible recording.
And even so, it is much smaller than if you record using a DVD or HD- recorder as you would need to record at a high bit-rate in order to prevent encoding artifacts.
Hope this takes away any doubts!

Thanks for sharing this version as well! The first one was already very good, and I'm looking forward to seeing how this one compares. :))

May I know why the file size here is 1.41 GB whereas the first one by Rien is 3.16 GB ?
I am a novice on videos so I am waiting for the official DVD release.

In theory, a lower data size means the video was recorded at a lower bitrate, therefore worse picture/more artefacting onscreen.
BUT, if this is a direct capture of the data stream, then it ought to be the best quality picture!

Thankyou for the share!!
You seem to have some mean equipment at your disposal :)
Was your satellite reciever provided by the service provided or u ourchased it seperately?

Service providers don't give you this type of receivers because they don't want you to have access to the raw stream.
Another advantage of my box is that in case of encrypted broadcast, it stores the stream in decrypted form so that you can still watch it after the encryption keys are updated. This is something that none of the standard harddisc receivers will do.
Cheers,
Frank

hi,
in this version is the rock'n'roll medley edited or integral?
