Wow! Thanks mediokamusic for the links and explanation. Makes a ton of sense now. The original is just the drums and bass submixed and looped. So it's impossible to solo the originals in the mix.
I wonder what year they went in and added stuff like the John bass line etc?
Another One Bites The Dust may be the same deal.
Here's a screenshot of the better stems I have. Maybe there is no bigger multi session for this either?
Here's a different version of Another One Bites The Dust. i don't recall ever hearing a mix with a shaker. Anyone know more about this?
I muted the other bass, synths etc

TC, it's interesting. It seems shaker was muted for a final mix. It's nice to hear it now. Also I hear some ad libs in the vocal track which were muted for all the mixes of the song as well.

Cool Cat is an obscure song, yes. But it's not garbage at all. It's a wonderful piece of music with incredible great falsetto singing by FM. And it's better without DB on it for sure...

Absolutely agree on Freddie's vocal on Cool Cat - exquisite control and application of falsetto....
...compare and contrast with 'One Year of Love' just 4 years later, a similar type of 'soul'-ish song which for me is the worst Freddie vocal in their catalogue and indicative of his chosen style at that point....possibly the one time his decisions on how to deliver the vocal (trying to hit everything in a strained, full on voice rather than backlng off) are (again, just for me) not right.

Interesting ! The shaker only pops up in the final mix for one bar in the middle section. But here it definitely sounds looped, like the drums.
Thanks for posting.

For anyone that wants info on the Dragon Attack session here's some useful links https://brianmay.com/queen/thegame/briansnotes3.html

The reason the solo bass track doesn't kick in straight away is because the main bass is in the stereo bounce. And the solo bass is obviously John adding bits here and there to the track. Apparently the main body of this song came from a jam session where part of it was looped which is evident when you listen to it. I'd imagine the session you have TC is the way the final multitrack is supposed to be.[/QUOTE]
Great insight.
And those two links from Brian's website are gold. If only he'd write similar pieces about Queen II or Sheer Heart Attack.

Oh yes, indeed. I never thought that this reverb/delay/speed processed segment is a part of the shaker track. Nice catch!

Interesting. So were a lot of the tracks on that album made from loops like Dragon Attack? Back then that would have involved a shitload of cutting and splicing tape with a razor blade and tape splicing block. i learned to do that in engineering school, but thank God for modernization and software now. It's tedious and time consuming lol
Here is a screenshot of the AOBTD session folder, I still don't think it's the complete one though.
You already posted screenshot of this folder earlier...
Why do you think it's not a complete set? Is there a thunder-like sound in the middle of the timeline on one of these tracks ?

Wow, thank you for the AOBTD mix! Yet another unique insight into their creative process :-D Keep them coming!

Yes that sound is on the synth track, sound like they had some transfer issues, as the track glitches towards the end, or maybe that's how they cut the tape. Just sounds weird solo.

From what I've heard the drums are looped on Another One Bites the Dust too. It is a sparsely arranged song so it's possible you have the full session who knows though. Other tracks on the album that I know had loops in them was Coming Soon and Rock It. Using loops to create a song was becoming a trend at that point.

Thw 'mixes' are great but still not convinced he has the multitracks as he claims...

Hello guys. Please, could somebody upload the files shared via dbr.ee to any other server?
The page just displays a still image, it won't show anything related to a download link.

Sorry can't re-post the mixdowns until I find an alternative to dbr.ee. :(
i'm open to alternatives.
Thank the asshat that hosted the Avengers leaks on there. Don't fu*k with the Mouse lol RIP dbr.ee
