best live gig

what would you describe as,queens best gig.
lets take out .live aid.that was something else..
the best gig ,queen played,for sound,vocals,and crowd reaction.
you can even include ,queen+ if you want.
just a curious question for the pure queen fan.
it can be audio or video.
can be anywhere,any year,,bootleg audio or bootleg video....
you can if you want part the two(best vid best audio).

The Rainbow shows from 1974, as well as the Hammersmith show from 1975 are ripper shows. This was a band that was young, determined, focused and out to prove something. I think they lost those qualities as they got more 'pro' later on.

Rainbow 1974, Boston 1976, Denmark 1978, Newcastle, 1979, hammersmith 1979, Oakland, 1980, Wembley 1980, Montreal 1981, Milton Keynes 1982, Leeds 1982.

It's impossible to chose only one. Maybe Rainbow 31.March 74, or Tokyo 1. May 1975, or Hammersmith Odeon 26. December 1979, or Knebworth Park ...

Truro '70

Montreal 1982 is a very hot one. The best Rock It version, in my opinion. Brian's guitar sounds terrific. Plus, six Hot Space songs live. Just great :)

It's hard to say, because we haven't heard them all.  And we can only judge the ones that sound good enough, so most realistically, we only have about 100 out of 700 shows to judge fairly.

We loved the Boston 76 show, but if we had an equally good recording of every show from that US tour, would we even consider shows from the 80s to be part of a top 10, or even top 25?

That said, Tokyo 5-1-75, London 10-6-77, Sao Paulo 3-20-81, Leeds 5-29-82, and Budapest 7-27-86 come to my mind as being amongst the best Queen shows, as they were groundbreaking in one way or another.  Shows like Rainbow 74, Hammersmith 75, Houston 77 (i.e. the ones with good quality videos) were probably just as good as the rest of the shows on those respective tours.

I'd just check out SirGH's site and look at the ones he's highlighted.

that I'd had stored on my PC for years from the HUB after looking at
his remarkable and well though out site.

I'd actually like to thank him personally for the man hours and careful
thought he's put in to making it easier to find the "hidden gems" among
Queen's live body of works.

seems like early queen shows are the best.
rainbow 74 is the one most of you think is one of the best.
i didnt see any queen+ there.
are they not up to scratch,or do you prefer the older queen.more hard rocking.

Queen + isn't a patch on Queen imo David. The more I listen too PR with Q live, the more I seem to have grown weary of his voice singing Queen material... even though I still enjoyed the tours and the album. I don't get this with Freddie AT ALL.

My favourites are from North America in the 80s tour. They really had fun on this tour and really tweaked the tunes for some reason to add little extras here and there to make the gigs so much fun to listen too. I'd love to hear each gig from that tour in the best quality.

Freddie really seems relaxed, when you'd expect him to be most nervous with the whole "British band breaking America" importance that every act seems to have from here. His voice was wonderful and some of the variations on songs like Play The Game, Save Me and perfect renditions of Death On Two Legs, We Are The Champions etc are spine tingling. the rest of the band are on excellent form too. Unlike Freddie they seem very focused on getting their timing right and playing the best they could, instead of playing around with songs as Freddie did. An excellent combination IMO

I tend to listen to WATC first off of any bootleg to see how they (in particular Freddie) sounded at the end of the concert. It's probably the hardest song for Freddie to sing, especially after a gruelling setlist. If he nails it, and if the quality is good enough, I'll listen to the whole show.
