I agree!
You can say it's a pity these concerts are only available as mp3.
But everybody will be happier to share them as mp3 than not to share them at all!!!

Therefore I can only say thank you very much indeed!

I have asked many times for Miklos to share the cross video from Geneva, or indeed anyone else who has it. No luck so far although it was promised. Still, I live in hope [/img]

people on streets:  disappointed mrducksoup...

concerts coming from me:
Budapest 86 (full concert) - audio + video

my recordings:
Budapest 93 (full audio / 50 mins video)
Gosport 94
Budapest 98 audio
Munich 98 audio
London 98 audio
Milan 98 audio
Norwich 99 audio
Nottingham 99 audio
London 99 audio
Cambridge 99 audio
QPR - Munich 2005. video + audio

ALL and i mean ALL are circulating out there for 10-15 years (not QPR 2005 obviously!) - the ones who have copies can equally share them.

Several other shows (mostly solo) are on video are out there ONLY BECAUSE i tracked down the original taper in dallas, or tokyo, or milwaukee, or wherever else in the world.

You think I have not shared in QZ - i say I had a big input in the collectors world in the last 15 years - do not tell me what to share until you also hoard your own fair share of Queen rarities.

About the new nickname: I prefer this one instead of mrducksoup. I tried to change the name from my mrducksoup account but after several attempts I was thinking that creating a new account might as well be easier. You did spot it quit early though. Good work Sherlock :-) !"

1 Those shows are circulating because you taped and traded them. You didn't share them. The only reason Munich 2005 is circulating is because of the fact that someone broke a rule. Not because you wanted it to circulate.

2 On the other hand: You clearly state in your post that: "the ones who have copies can equally share them". That's a nice gesture! If those copies are from the master those shares would be a nice contrubution to the Queen community.
If not, maybe you could provide someone with copies of the masters to share them over here or on dime. Great!

You call me "disappointed mrducksoup". Yes. I am disappointed!
I do hoard my queen rarities because of people like you. That was always my reason to hoard to begin with. From early on I was told that's how it works in this queen trading community in order to get acces to new footage/concerts. And it did work: that's reason you and me could do a trade in the first place.

Maybe hoarding still works to a certain degree, but in this day and age with fantastic internet dowloads available for free to everyone (Boston 77 being the latest example) I don't think hoarding gives the best benefits for all within a fan community. Working together in the community enables us to see and hear much more rarities than any individual hoarder will ever have in his or hers collection. Remember Cologne 2005? You didn't shot much footage, I didn't have much editing skills but by working together we both ended up with the product we wanted. That's what I mean.

I have collected Queen concert photographs for a while but after seeing the amount of photographs that are being donated to queenlive.ca and queenconcerts.com I began to realise that working together is the best way to go. There's no way I could have collected all those photographs in my own, I don't have time for that! But the fact that all fans / photographers contributed their little bit to those websites now makes it possible for everyone to enjoy these pictures. Isn't that great?

A individual taper can't visit and film a complete tour in his own. By working together the complete tour can be covered and made available for everyone. Cologne 05 was great, but it can be done on a much greater scale too. There are some U2 concerts that were shot by no less than 16 different people in the audience. NIN fans do the same too. Of course, there a hoarders in those communities too. But there are happening a lot of nice things there as well.

I truly believe working together is the best for all in the end. Maybe that's naive. I don't know.

I admit, it's hard to let go a rare show or a show I've taped. But in the end I realised that's what most reasonable people did and that's the way a collection is being build over the years. People who taped queen in the 70's are letting their masters go for all of us to enjoy.

We can do something back. I'm willing to donate my 8mm for a fan made rarities compilation if other people are willing to do the same. You could contribute too. By working together it could be a far more exciting release than Queen productions has offered us the last couple of years. It might be difficult to let go, but I think the end the results could be amazing for everyone and change this community a little bit.

Best post ever.

A video compilation project sounds good to me.  If we include everything up to 1981, it should be about 4 hours of 8mm footage alone.  I'll chip in as long as plenty of others are willing to chip in too.  We know who all the big players are, so it's time for everyone to do their part instead of taking all of these generous shares without giving back.  Virtually every other trading community has proven that sharing only leads to more sharing.

Trading stuff 10 years ago is not sharing in today's sense of the word, because there was usually no confirmed lineage back then.  Sharing masters is how you clean up the waters.

Look at what it has led to in the last year alone..

Cologne 74, Boston 76, Nagoya 76, Boston 77, Seattle 77, Sun City 84 (probably not a master, but close enough), and every Brussels show from the 80s.

It's time to do the same for video now.

With all my respect towards SIr GH and his shares in the recent years, when it comes to discussing trading the end result is always HYPOCRISY.  There will never be such thing as no trading only sharing. Besides, allow me to say you dont know  who "all the big players are" -unless  you know who is sitting on Wembley 86 rehearsals, or Palermo 95, or Winterthur 93, or Tokyo 79 full show with one camera, or Bob Harris interviews, or Monterrey 81, or Rotterdam 78, or 'Bo Rhap outtakes' and countless hours of other videos hoarded .

mrducksoup aka people on streets: I did not set the trading rules either, I follow them - just like you did in the last years.

It would be great if someone out there who is organised could provide a list of all the interviews and TV appearances around the world, in order, then we can all get together and provide the best quality footage for editing into comprehensive "Queen Scrapbooks".
I'm doing that now, but my collection certainly isn't comprehensive and in this day of internet sharing I'm having to reject so much shit that's coming from youtube or VCD and even DVD's crammed full of hours of stuff that's obviously come from an original source but now artefacts like mad because of low bitrates.

So. If anyone has any VHS masters and are willing to copy onto DVD at the highest setting possible (or bluray as DV AVI's), that's the place to start...

@Miklos: Of course I know you didn't set the rules just like I didn't. i acknowlage the fact that hoarding will always be part of people system: Communism doesn't work. We already had a whole topic filled about that issue last year. But I also do know that you are one of the collectors out there who could make a contribution to make things a little different.

Maybe some of the other 'big players' are reading this topic too and are willing to contribute in this project. It could be great if we all contribute some nice footage. Again: we don;t need queen productions for that if we are willing to work together.

My alternative is to forget about this offer, sit on the 8mm for a decade and sell it to queen productions or a private collector in the end. No one will benefit from that.
Does all this mean somebody will finally share Cross Geneva DVD by Miklos?

Well here's the cover for it which also shows the lineage, somebody must have it to share.

I'd also be interested to see this version of Meltdown promised by Miklos

MIKLOS QUOTE

I post a sample of my version (lineage: TV broadcast ->master vhs (1987) -> 1st vhs copy from trade, with mono HiFi sound -> JVC SVHS player  - >Canopus ADVC300  -> DV AVI -> NeatVideo filter -> HQ AVI ->  Procoder 3.0 ->2pass mastering quality-> mpeg2 file as VOB  - 7800 mbit/s video,  PCM audio). Audio not altered (PCM 16kbit)

sample:

http://rapidshare.de/files/47187863/meltdowntrialNV_MPEG2_DVD_PAL_Mastering__1.VOB.html

I am not downloading Kurgans version, but if you find my version superior, I will share it sooner or later ( dont ask for immediate share,  i am busy with other things in life and due to moving flats all my vhs are in boxes stored away  - I found this AVI on my HDD from an earlier test capture I did. I still want to regrab it from VHS, and make tiny remastering with the colours, this one has too much green colour etc etc - that might be the ultimate version for a while (unless RT releases a boxed set or someone provides a Thames TV copy!)

But when enough people go against the rules, the rules die away.  Unlike actual law, there is nobody upholding these rules.  The players involved are the only ones who can make the difference.
Besides, allow me to say you dont know  who "all the big players are"
Naturally it's impossible to know everyone who has rarities.  What I meant to say was, there are enough of them who are members of this forum alone (never mind elsewhere) who could make such a project a huge success.

It's 2010.  The old-fashioned, cut-throat style of collecting is dying away in this era of online sharing.  Of course there will always be hoarding, as someone will always want to gain more for themselves at the expense of others.  But what we're seeing here is someone taking the first brave step towards something that will benefit everyone in the end.  Others are welcome to follow.
