Indeed, I have just returned from Paris, and things will return to normal on Monday 12th April when I return to work.
I hope to copy the discs sometime that week.

After that I have to post the discs.
The discs then need to be converted and uploaded.

I have already promised this to both Pittrek and the 'zone, and I believe, as far as in here is concerned, I am a man of my word.

The rest is patience I'm afraid.

This is not carrot dangling - but fact.
So far, all the De Lane Lea demos currently available are taken from a CD produced in 1994 by a Dutch fan (I'm not naming him) from a reel-reel tape he owns or owned. He apparantly had permission from Jim Beach to release them because he loaned that tape to QPL.
Therefore, this CD would be the best 'available' version of those demos as it's the original source and because nobody  knows whether subsequent CD releases taken from this disc were done digitally or analogue (it was 1994).
Whether this tape is the same generation or not as John's, only John would be able to tell... :)
FACT: I bought two versions of this tape from the same source. A master reel and a copy.
This Dutch fan (Let's Call him Mr. R) - It was me who sold him his 7" reel-to-reel tape in a private sale.
Guess which version I sold  - and which version I kept?

He paid around £1,000 for his version - and promised not to bootleg it.
(In fact, he never even had the decency to send me a courtesy of copy of his bootleg!).
I also seem to recall GB sticking his nose in sometime after the deal was completed - because he thought it was dishonest of me to sell the copy - while retaining the master - you go figure!

I hope John at least gets a tax deduction for his generosity in donating something that is worth more than one week's pay for most people.[/img]

So the demos come from a 1st gen tape if I understood it correctly ?  So what's the correct lineage ?

? > 7" reel-to-reel tape > 1st gen tape > "In The Beginning " CD

right ?

The first gen copy sounds great to me already.

But if you would decide to upload a lossless copy from the master (via Pittrek that is),that version would be a definitive version of these fab demos! I'm curious about Queen Productions' reaction though...

By the way:  we all know RW.
I think he earned a hell of a lot money with all his bootleg videos and cds in '90s and early '00s.

Doesn't surprise me at all. Mister GB seems to be VERY good friends with some so called Dutch top collectors.

Well not ALL :-) I never head the "pleasure" to know him (at least I don't think I have).

Anyway, the bootleg CD has a lot of background noise - it's not hiss, I'm not sure what's the correct English term, but if you listen to it with your headphones you will surely know what I'm talking about. Maybe it's just a bad transfer ?

It all depends on how long you are active in this strange Queen roio and voio collecting thing.

Let's say any collector who was active in the 90's knows RW and his bootlegs.
