It's an interesting thing.

Coming from a musical point of view, it's a terrible musical.  An unoriginal rehash of songs. The plot appears to be loosely strung around the songs, the humour in it is embarrassingly childish and it really shouldn't work, and I am disappointed that the general public seem to think it does. As a Queen fan, I cringe as I watch it. It's the prime example of why fans of theatre are losing faith in modern musical theatre. A blatant cash in, with no new material. Lazy, empty and feel good. I admit though I have enjoyed it the last couple of times I've seen it, but that mayhve been simply because one of my favourite west end performers currenty understudies two of the main roles and he is just amazing.

It pains me though, because while it's hard to believe, musicals with no original songs can actually work. It's very hard to get right. Mamma Mia didn't manage it, neither did WWRY, but Jersey Boys manages it amazingly. It's a biopic, as opposed to a terrible story with cheesey songs added. Yes, there are moments when the songs are used as cheesey plot devices but it's one of the best new musicals around. And to think, Brian and Roger could have got something like that. A story of how the band got together, their success and Freddie's death, if it was done properly it could have been beautifully touching and you would have come out having learnt about the band and feeling touched by Freddie's life.

But no, we got WWRY.

I haven't seen WWRY the musical yet, but I think I will enjoy it. For people who dislike it as a whole, is there anything that you particularly enjoyed or thought was done well, even though generally you don't like it?

u must see it its amazing :D and i dont think anything about it was bad, it is the best show at the theatre u can see, the jokes are cool to, and the singing is amazing, which is a good thing comeing from me because usualy i hate it when people attempt to sing Queen, but they sang from the heart both times i saw it,  and again, the use of light is brilliant, the entire show is so well writen and the songs so well slotted in its just incredible, its incredible and draws u into it, as i said, an escape from reality, i love it :D

(and OMFG it would be so cool if we all met up and had a big Queenzone reunion and went to see we will rock you at the dominion theatre in London, oh i can dream of such an amazing day)

Thanks for you reply! Sounds like a good show. I'm looking forward to it! What seats did you have each time you saw it? Any advice on the best seats in the house?

well when i went i was 3 rows from the front at the end of the row, and i got a good view of the show, id suggets the 3rd row to the front because then it wont hurt ur neck so much looking up if u were right at the front, tho at the front u went have tall slap head infront of you,  but i don think bein at the end of a row or in the middle etc would realy make any differene i dont think, idk im always at the end of rows cus i'm a bit costraphobic, (or how ever its spelt) so i prefer to be at the end in a theatre or cinema. im not fat i just have panic attacks alot when im around loads and loads of people i dont know so being at the end of a row calms me down more,
so id say try to be at the front because then its more magical

Ahh okay, thanks for your help! Yeah being near the front definitely seems better, as though you are a part of the show, almost.

I just found this website that has more info about seats in the Dominion Theatre, and it has a seating plan too: http://www.theatres.tv/london/dominion-theatre/ They reckon that rows D-H are the best seats in the Stalls. Should I go for these?

Tips for booking London theatre tickets -

Firstly. A good website to always check before purchasing tickets is theatremonkey.com, it shows you the best value seats and seats to avoid.

Secondly, booking tickets directly through the theatre's own box office is always the best bet. You get to speak to a person who knows the theatre rather than doing it through some second party like ticketmaster, who will charge you a huge booking fee and give you a crap seat.

Thirdly, I personally find that if in doubt go for the closest to the front as you can. Possibly not front row, but anything behind that is usually worth the full price. If you are willing to pay the full amount for a ticket then you may as well be close to the front.

I think row D or E in the stalls and as much to the middle as possible would be the best seats for WWRY, personally.

I speak as a theatre geek and am therefore probably right. Also WWRY is a bit shit.

And by "a bit", I probably mean "very". Great cast though.
