Queen II - so iconic Miracle - a neat picture, and a statement on how all the song are collaborative (Made in Heaven is up there too - the last hints of light from a setting sun hitting the band)

Queen - the first one. Like a beacon to all the great things to come.

The widely available cover has the sunrise photo, not the sunset one, so technically it's "the first hints of light from a rising sun".
The vinyl cover had the setting sun, though.
Lovely cover. I wish I had visited Montreux in Fall/Winter instead of in the middle of the Summer. It still looked beautiful but not "MIH cover" beautiful, hehe :).

News Of The World has always been my fave. I was 7 when the album came out and my brother had it and I remember staring at it for hours, especially the inside cover of the people running. Magic stuff.

I have to agree with News Of The World. It's the only one that had me looking at it in wonder as a kid.

news of the world, Yes!....a great cover. I also have a warm spot for made in heaven.

I'll always have a soft spot for Queen II - that's the first image of the band that I really remember (from the BoRhap video).
NOTW is probably the coolest (especially since they had the original artist alter the painting) and Made in Heaven is also really poignant (although I was disappointed when I heard it's actually three different photos smashed together rather than one fluid shot).

News of the World for me. I chose it as my avatar because I have an intense memory of being 11 years old in summer of 1978 and tracing the lines of the artwork with my finger as I held the album for the first time. It belonged to my older cousin, and his album collection was a source of mystery and wonder. I couldn't take my eyes off of it for the longest time as I examined every detail and tried to imagine a story about what had happened to the people on the cover.
I had a dream about the metal monster that night in which I discovered him crying in the woods behind the house at my aunt's house where we were staying. I somehow knew that he was terribly sorry about what had happened to the people on the cover. In the dream, I went into the house and took a bag of oreos which I brought into the woods and shared with my monster friend. Whenever I handed him one it changed from a small oreo into a giant one that fit him. He didn't talk, but he stopped crying.
It's my first memory of 'Queen', though what Queen would become for me, by degrees, was a ways off yet.

Awwww like in "Of Mice and Men" when Lennie squeezes the mice to death. That story is too cute!

"Made In Heaven" and "The Miracle"... the symbolism in both of these covers is so beyond anything else...
