I know! I hate MP3 compression (especially if it's compressed THIS badly).

It can't be from that gig: They played that song 2 semitones lower then.
Plus, listen to his vibrato here. No way that's 1982 Freddie, it sounds closer to 1980!

Sigh. I heart Freddie & Queen immeasurably. Sometimes I forget a little, and then something like this brings it all home again.
Thanks for the recording Greg.

Don't thank me! Thank the guy who sent me the recording!
I'm just sharing it!

I've heard nearly every record of rock it and I haven't never heard this before. It has to be from vancouver. and if not, it could be from san diego

Without a doubt thats 1980 Freddie, the version from Montreal 1982 is rather similar but GS is right in that this is played differently. I did think the same thing but having listened to it again they are different.
Just to make sure I'll do some adjustments to the 82 show just to make sure, but I do think we have a bit of a gem here! Sounds like Freddie had his 'crazy tour' range still totally intact...not a shocker really!

Agree with koldweather (Hi Sephiroth-LOL).
I did some searching myself, and I pitched this version down 2 keys (to match the North American versions), and it doesn't sound right (Freddie sounds too deep in parts). Plus the tempo on this version doesn't sound extremely fast!

Plus, throughout the north american hot space tour freddie was strong but not nearly that strong to sustain a B4 for a couple seconds and then falsetto up from it. This is without a doubt got to be from the beginning of the game tour...probably before the chandler gig

Yeah, he did "hit" B4s during that HS leg (Action This Day), but I agree...sustained B4s? No way!
It could also be one of those Inglewood gigs?

Oh ya that is another possibility. But I'm going more towards Vancouver because it was the first gig of the tour and he sounds even better than chandler/phoenix which was a couple gigs later
Gregsynth · Member since
OK, going by your logic there's 4 gigs before Phoenix:
Vancouver Seattle Portland San Diego
Phoenix was after San Diego!!

Oh, i did not know about all those gigs. I went by Queenliveca's schedule not queenconcert's. My bad. So it could be vancouver, seattle, or san diego. My best bet is still vancouver
